taehyung and joy sat themselves across each other in the dining table. silence prevailed as joy kept her eyes down, avoiding taehyung's intense gaze.

"i remember."

joy looked up and met the boy in the eyes. she flinched but forced herself not to look away.

"remember...what?" joy mumbled loud enough for him to hear.

the look on taehyung's face softened as the two of them continued to look at each other's eyes.

"you." he said.

flustered, joy blinked, wondering if she heard wrong or not. "do you mean you regained your memories back...of me?"

taehyung nodded, "i did."

"w-when...?"

"just this morning." he began. "after you left, i suddenly remembered something you said before and it all came back to me. i remember you now."

joy wanted to smile. she wanted to be happy for him and for her because he finally remembered her. she had been waiting for this moment for so long, but the problem is, it just wasn't the same as before anymore. a lot had happened ever since taehyung lost his memories of her and all of those greatly affected joy. even if she wanted to, she just can't pretend like everything's okay now that taehyung remembered her again. besides, it's not like they're dating anymore, right? they have nothing to do with each other anymore, besides the fact that joy is just, once again, the younger sister of taehyung's best friend.

"that's...great." joy muttered, her tone  sounding way too insincere. "was that all you wanted to talk about?"

joy was beginning to stand up from her seat to leave, as if she had been longing to get away from taehyung as soon as possible. noticing this, taehyung winced and suddenly rose to his feet, startling joy as the sound the chair screeching against the tiled floor sounded.

"i'm not done yet." he said, seriousness evident in his voice. "the main reason why i came here is because i wanted to apologize to you. after i regained my memories back, i realized how harsh i've been with you. i treated you so badly even though all you've been doing the entire time was trying your best to be with me. i'm sorry that i disregarded all your efforts. i'm sorry for hurting you. i've been such a jerk to you and i probably don't even deserve to be forgiven. but i'm sorry. i'm so sorry."

joy could feel her eyes beginning to sting as tears formed, but refusing to show herself cry in front of taehyung, she blinked the tears away. keeping a straight face, she tried her hardest to try not to show any emotions as she stared at taehyung.

"it's okay." she said, monotonely. "if you don't have anything else to say, i'm sorry but i have to go. bye."

making her way out of the dining room, joy disappeared from taehyung's sight, who remained still on his spot. frowning, taehyung sat on the chair once again. placing his elbows on the table, he rested his forehead on his hands and sighed in frustration.

"it's not okay."
