"Hey guys" I said to Dominic and Laura as I sat down with my sandwich
They've been spending a lot of time with each other lately. My girl Laura going after what she wants.
They both greeted me and continued carrying on in their own, very close conversation, occasionally talking to me.
"Kyla, can I have a word with you?" Lena tapped me on my shoulder
I looked at her hand, then back at her. "No" I said before turning back around, showing attention to my food
"It may have sounded like a question, but it wasn't." She still stood behind me
"And it may have sounded like I was playing, but I wasn't." I took a bite of my sandwich
She finally realized I wasn't going to entertain her and she walked off.
"What was that about?" Laura asked
"No idea." I sipped some of my water
A few minutes later, Mekai came over
"Wassup y'all" he sat down, grabbing my other half of sandwich
"Nigga" I stared at him
"My bad. Want a bite?" He smiled as he chewed, tossing his arm over my shoulder
"You lucky I wasn't gonna eat that" I shook my head
"Lucky huh? What were you gonna do?" He whispered in my ear
"Beat yo ass" I said, chuckling "Get out of my space"
"Nah, I'm comfortable" he said as if I had given him an option
"Punk ass"
"Watch ya mouth" he pinched my arm
"Ow, stupid" I elbowed him, but not hard
"Your girlfriend was just over here" Laura said
"So?" He chuckled
"You don't wanna go sit with her?"
"Nah, she good. I'm busy" he smirked at me and I rolled my eyes
Once lunch was over, I threw my trash away and headed to class with Laura while Dominic and Mekai went another way.
"What's going on with you and Mekai?" She smiled
"Studying" I rolled my eyes
"Mhm...I think y'all should go out with me and Dominic tonight"
"If you're trying to double date, you should talk this out with Lena, his girlfriend" I said
"Don't think of it as a double date. It's more of a friendship thing"
"Where y'all going?" I asked
"To the movies and the skating rink"
"Mm, I'll pass" I declined, not wanting anyone to get any ideas
She sighed "At least think about it"
"I have more important things to think about" I shrugged

"Welcome to Lilian's, may I start you off with something to drink?" I picked up an extra shift at work, since I didn't have anything else to do
"I'll have your phone number instead" the guy removed the menu from in front of his face
"Let me know when you've decided what you want to drink" I rolled my eyes, about to walk away
"Wait, wait." He stood up "That was corny, I apologize"
