"Are my babies ready for bed?" I put Kason's hood on his head, making him giggle tiredly "Let's FaceTime daddy." I picked up my phone
He answered after it rung a few times.
I turned the phone so the twins could see him and they perked up.

"Daddy babies!" He smiled from ear to ear
"Da!" Kason grinned
"That's daddy, Kas?"
"Da-da!" He said as Kacey reached for the phone
"He said dada?" Mekai gasped, sitting up in his bed
"He's been saying it since I got home from work. He even tried to hit me when I told him to say mama."
"Man, see I'm missing out on shit like that."
"I know baby, just a few more weeks..." I sighed, trying to be strong in front of the twins, but I miss his ass like crazy
The twins miss him more. I thought these months would be easy, but they are hell.
"5 to be exact...5 weeks and 3 hours." He laid back in his bed
"Don't count the days, it makes it seem longer."
"These FaceTime calls don't do justice."
"At all." I added "But soon we all gonna' be together."
"I miss my babies man." He sighed "Thanksgiving coming up, you gone let me spend it alone?"
"They miss you more, you know that, but I gotta work on Thanksgiving and you got school the day after. I want to, but..." I sighed, assuming he knew the rest
"I know..."
"Aw Meeks." I pouted
"You always ruining da' moment, babymama." He said, referring to me calling him the nickname he hated
I straight faced him and hung up. A few seconds later, my phone rang.
"What?"
"Don't feel so good, do it?" He laughed
"Fuck you." I said only so he could hear
"Please do, Mrs. Andrews."
I tried to keep my mug, but I blushed. "You make me sick."
"You make me better." He grinned, knowing he was being corny
"Stop, you making me miss you more." I ran my hands through my hair
"Maybe that'll make yo' ass get on a flight since you won't let me come see you."
"I'll come long as I can talk to Bridgett in a room alone for like a hour...maybe two." I smiled extra hard, making Mekai laugh
"You fuckin' crazy man." He shook his head "Did I tell you she switched his daycare? I can't even go pick him up if I wanted"
"She doing the most. You need to let me talk to her, this situation would've been handled weeks ago."
"I don't need you out here fighting. I filed a court order against her this morning, I should be able to get the DNA test soon."
"I feel you...Just tryna speed up the process." I shrugged
"I said no, hardheaded ass. Now drop it."
"A'ight" I rolled my eyes and began looking at Kason as he dozed off on an already sleep Kacey "Bae look." I flipped the camera and showed them sleeping
"Damn, they act like they been workin' all day. Wake they asses up! I ain't seen them since yesterday morning neither." He yelled through the phone
"Kai, if you wake these kids up, I'm shipping them to you and they get breastfed, last time I checked you ain't got no titties." I sat the phone down while picking up Kason
"The girl down the hall breastfed her baby, all milk da' same." He shrugged
"Nigga, I'll-"
"I'm joking, calm down lil crazy." He cut me off
"Big crazy behind my children and yo' big headed ass." I laid across the bed after putting Kacey in her crib
"You know it's mutual, babymama."
"You got one mo' time." I squinted at him
"A'ight, I'll chill if you show me a titty."
"Goodnight Mekai."
"We just had a whole conversation about titties, come on now." He sucked his teeth
"Love you." I said while inching my finger towards the end call button
"Kiss my kids! Love you too, mean ass!" He quickly said, knowing I was going to hang up
I laughed before getting up and going to kiss the twins goodnight, then headed into the bathroom to take my shower.
I turned on the shower while I undressed, then I turned the baby monitor all the way up and got in.
I smiled to myself as I washed my body. I can't wait to see the look on Mekai's face when I pop up with the twins on Thanksgiving. This is our first holiday as a family, of course I wouldn't let him spend it alone. I'm off until next week, but he thinks otherwise.
BOOM!
A loud crash on the baby monitor made me jump, then shortly after that I heard the twins' cries. I quickly hopped out the shower without turning it off and grabbed a towel, running out of the bathroom.
Some tall man was already headed out the bedroom, holding the twins.
"Aye, Stop!" I screamed, running to the nightstand to grab my gun
After I took the safety off, I ran into the living room just as the man was about to run out the door.
"Put 'em down" I ran, putting the gun to the back of his head
"Look lady, I'm just followin' orders. Calm down, ok?"
"Put my fuckin' kids down now!" My chest heaved up and down as I held the towel around me with one hand
"My boss ain't gone be too pleased if I don't bring these babies, so..."
"I don't give a fuck! Put my-" I felt something heavy and hard hit me in the back of my head before I could turn around to see who hit me, I blacked out.
