"Girl, it's not even that many stairs." Kyla chuckled as her and Laura entered the apartment
"It is after you've been walking all day." Laura dramatically fanned herself
Kyla playfully rolled her eyes "Baby" she called out
"Yeah mama, that's Kyla you hear. She just came in" Mekai walked from the back on the phone
They gave each other a peck on the lips and then Mekai greeted Laura.
"Heyyy, Joyce." Kyla took her jacket off
"Hey Kyla. My son been treating you right?"
"He been doing 'ight." she grinned at Mekai while saying so "How you been?"
"I been fine. Your mama and I been going to this sip and paint class."
"Oh trust me, she told me." Kyla chuckled "How's Clint?"
"Getting old."
"Ain't nobody fuckin' old." Clinton said from the background
"Did she ask you? No, so shut up." Joyce said back to him
"I had to say something, you out here spreading lies. I won't old when I was blowing ya-"
"I'll call you back." Mekai said before quickly hanging up, knowing his parents, especially his father
Laura and Kyla shared a laughed while Mekai shook his head.
"That's gone be y'all in 20 years" Laura said
"It's us now." Mekai joked, putting one arm around Kyla's waist
She nudged him a little, finishing off her laugh. "How was your day?" she asked
"Cool, I just finished up my homework. How was yours?"
"Good."
"Tiring" Laura groaned
"Baby, let me tell you. This big crybaby complained the entire time we were out"
"Bitch I ain't big. You like to do too much walking"
"You will be if you sit down and eat your whole pregnancy with no extra movement."
"Fine, I won't sit down and eat" she smacked her lips "I'll go stand in the kitchen. You got leftovers?" she got up from the chair
"Yeah" Kyla shook her head, chuckling
Laura made her way into the kitchen and Mekai used this as his quick alone time with Kyla.
"How you holding up?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her waist
"I'm good. You ok?"
"Yeah." He puckered his lips for a kiss
Kyla kissed the lips she'd been missing all day.
"I'm about to go to the gym, I'll be back at 8" Mekai said
"So I gotta be here all alone." Kyla pouted a little. She was hoping to spend time with her man
"I'll be here with you!" Laura said, coming out of the kitchen with a plate in her hand "What's for dinner?"
Kyla and Mekai shook their heads at her.
"That's yo friend." Mekai said before heading to the back bedroom

At the gym, things were going smoothly. Mekai was giving his all, pushing himself past his limit. The gym was completely empty around this time, so he could workout freely.
"Mm-mm-mm" somebody said from behind him "You look good when you sweat"
Mekai looked up, letting go of the exercise equipment. "Don't come in here fuckin' playing."
"You called me here. Don't act like you didn't wanna see me." Bridgett smirked, sitting on the stool
"I called you here to ask you a serious question and talk to you about some things."
"What is it?"
"I'ma cut straight to the chase. I want a DNA test." He took a swig from his water
"I'm glad you brought that up. There is a possibility this baby could be yours."
"Yeah, I know..."
"I'll set up an appoint-"
"I choose the doctor." He interrupted
"Fine. Call me and let me know." she ran her nail along his exposed shoulder
He grabbed her hand and gave it a strong squeeze "My fiancé been waiting to beat yo ass. Give her a reason."
"I'm pregnant, possibly with your baby, she wouldn't."
"You don't know my fiancé. Ya' face not pregnant, bitch." He pushed her hand away, making her stumble.
"Whatever, text me the information." She said before storming out of the gym
Mekai went back to working out, he had a lot of things on his mind worrying him now.
