Omniscient
"Babe" Kyla groaned, feeling a tight clenching in her lower stomach
"Hm?" Mekai asked with his eyes closed
"Go get the doctor" she scooted herself up as best as she could
"Baby, what's- Yo, you bleeding" Mekai's eyes were finally opened
"It hurts, get the doctor" she cried
He left out as quick as possible and returned with the doctor and two nurses. The doctor examined Kyla, almost immediately finding out what was wrong.
"We're going to have to rush her into surgery" he said, unlocking the bed
"Surgery? What's going on?" Mekai followed them as they rushed the bed down the halls
"I'm not able to share that with you right now" the doctor said
"The fuck you mean you can't-"
"Kai" Kyla cried, reaching her hand out for him
"I'm gonna be right here baby, right outside the door." He grabbed her hand
She nodded weakly "I love you" she forced out as her pain got worse
"I love you too" he said, noticing her eyes beginning to close
That was the last thing he said before their hands were torn apart
"You have to go in the waiting room" the nurse said to him
He listened, not wanting to cause more drama. He decided to go call Sylvia and let her know what was going on.
~ 4 hours later
Once again, everyone was gathered around, waiting impatiently. It was only Mekai, Sylvia, Joyce, and Clinton.
Laura and Dominic were in New York on a college orientation. Mekai and Kyla were supposed to be joining them, but with Kyla being in the hospital, and Mekai wanting to be there every step of the way. Neither one of them could make it.
"Family of-"
Mekai immediately hopped up, considering the fact they were the only family in the waiting room.
"Is she ok?" he asked
"She's resting in her room now, you all can go see her"
~ 1 hour later
"You want some juice?" Mekai asked
"Yeah" Kyla raised her bed up
"So what are you all doing about school?" Joyce asked
"By the time official classes start, I should be fine with walking"
"I found us a nice apartment too. It's right down the street from Laura and Dom's" Mekai added
"Baby" Kyla sighed with happiness "You got us an apartment?" She knew none of this until now
"Yeah, most of our stuff is moved in. Dominic offered to help since they went up there this weekend."
"Come here" she cupped his face, pecking his lips
"Y'all kiss for everything" Joyce chuckled
"Well at least y'all don't fuck to celebrate everything. Me and ya mama used to-"
"Yo!" Mekai cut his dad off
"Boy, it's how you got here" he fanned him off
Joyce snickered "Mhm, and while I was pregnant with you we used to-"
"Ma!" Mekai stopped her
"Alright, Alright" they chuckled at him
Clinton and Joyce started engaging in quiet conversation, while Sylvia and Mekai catered to Kyla.
"You in any pain?" Sylvia asked
"No"
"Hungry?" Mekai asked
"No"
"Need your pillow fluffed?" They both asked in unison
"Y'all, I am ok" she assured
"Well since you're fine, we're gonna go" Joyce and Clinton quickly put on their jackets
"Yeah, we gotta go uhm...we just gotta go" Clinton shrugged
"Love y'all too" Mekai said to his parents who were already out the door
"You can go home too mom. I know you have work in the morning"
"Alright" she sighed "Call me if you need anything, I love you" they pecked each other's cheek
"I love you too"
"Me too" Mekai added, seriously meaning it
"Love you too, Mekai" Sylvia chuckled while putting on her jacket and leaving
"Come here" Kyla motioned her fingered to Mekai "I been waiting to cuddle with you forever"
"You sure it's ok? I don't wanna hurt you" Mekai said
"Baby, it's fine. Now bring your amazing ass here" she created more room in the bed for him
Laying down next to her, he left about three inches between them. Still feeling that he could harm something on her. But Kyla took it upon herself to get even closer to him, laying on his clothed chest.
"I can't wait to go home" she rubbed his side
"I know, Sunshine. I figured you tired of this hospital." He wrapped his arm around her
She nodded against his chest.
"Aye, nobody told me why they had to rush you into surgery. Why were you bleeding like that?" He finally asked
"Oh, it was just some late symptoms from the miscarriage."
"I'm sorry you gotta go through this"
"Kai..."
"No, seriously. I know you gotta be emotionally hurting"
"Baby, I am fine. As long as I got you, I know I'll be ok. I hope you feel the same" she lifted her head from his chest
"I do, but I'm just saying-"
She cut him off with a few pecks on the lips "No buts, let's take a nap"
He pinched her butt softly while closing his eyes "Don't cut me off no more"
