Nico's POV

Rockets began to hit the school all over. Sections of the walls and ceiling fell around me.

I needed to get out of the school. I sprinted back through the halls. I went right back to the library without being seen. We needed our stuff. I picked up four of the five bags when a rocket flew past me and destroyed the wall. I turned to see a fiend holding a rocket launcher, reaching for a pistol on his hip.

Normally I would have killed him but considering I was carrying at least 100 extra pounds of supplies, and three more fiends with plasma weapons came into the doorway, I ran.

I turned and sprinted out of the hole in the wall. I wasn't sure whose bag got left behind, but it didn't matter now. I got most of our stuff and that's what mattered.

I dropped our bags behind a bush under a window. I knew I could find them here again.

An armored truck drove up onto the campus and began firing missiles and high caliber bullets at the school.

I dropped down and pretended to be dead. A missile flew over me and went through the window of the classroom. I heard the explosion and a chunk of a fiends leg flew out of the window.

These guys really didn't a crap about each others lives, as long as it meant killing us.

The truck turned and shot its way through a wall. It was going into the school. Anyone in there was dead.

But I'm stupid. And I do stupid shit. I chased after this truck.

It stopped in a blown out hallway and was firing at other walls. I shot two of the three men on the back and stabbed the third.

I busted the back window of the truck and shot the driver in the back of the head.

I hopped up into the turret and started shooting at a group of fiends that came around a corner.

One had a flame thrower on his back. When the turrets bullets hit, it caused a fiery explosion that killed the other fiends and caused the floor above to collapse.

A pipe busted and water started flooding the hall. Not this shit again. I had seen enough water in that damn cafeteria for a lifetime.

I spun the turret and aimed at the cab of the truck. I got out and tossed the two fiends rocket launchers near it and backed up. I got as far from the turret as possible, while still being close enough to shoot with it.

I shot and ran.

I dived out of the hallway and slid into the grass outside the school.

The truck exploded and a huge portion of the school collapsed. Two fiends from above fell and were burnt alive in the fire.

A second truck rounded the corner and aimed at me. There was no way the gunner in the back could hit me without damaging the vehicle, so the driver had to run me over.

He drove at me full speed. I sprinted at him full speed. I jumped just before impact and landed on the hood. I smashed the window with my foot and shot the driver in the chest, then jumped off.

I hit the ground hard and felt a rib or two crack.

The driver lost control and the truck slammed into a tree. The fiend in the back flew forward and died upon slamming into a wall.

I forced myself to stand. I was feeling weak. My legs were ready to give out and I just wanted to sit down. But I couldn't.

I had to keep fighting. For my friends.
