After the bell rang, the 4 of us packed our bags. I texted Rachael, telling her I wouldn't be walking home with her tonight, but that I had some exciting news to tell her later. I also text my mom, telling her I will be home late. Rachael texts me back almost instantly. My mom takes slightly longer, but eventually replies; saying, "Okay sweetie, have fun. Be safe:))"
"Jack's gonna drive us back home if that's cool with you." Daniel said, as he held the door for Jack, Corbyn, and I. "Yeah, that's alright with me." Wordlessly, Jack opened the car, hopping into the drivers seat. He almost instantly rolled down the windows and turned on some music. Daniel got in the front passenger seat, and Corbyn and I got in the back of the car. "Booo! Turn that crap off!" Corbyn shouted; gently hitting Jack on the side of the head. "It's good music!" Jack said, turning around and laughing quietly at Corbyn. "It really isn't though, man" said Daniel. Jack's smile faded, and he switched the song. "I liked that song." I said quietly to myself. Corbyn and Daniel were too busy talking amongst themselves, and didn't hear; but clearly Jack heard. I looked up at the rearview mirror just to see Jack looking back at me. The eye contact was quick, but somehow still sent chills down my spine. Jack turned on the car's engine and began to pull out of the parking lot. A relaxing song came on; I recognized it right away. Slowly, Daniel and Corbyn stopped talking; which was surprising, for such talkative boys. The ride home was spent in a comfortable silence. Everyone just enjoying the music, and the view. I closed my eyes, listening to the lyrics. I love this song, I can hardly believe Jack even knows it.
So before you change your mind, just
Run away
Run away with me
Run away
Run away with me
Run away
Run away with me nowThe melodic song comes to and end, and I feel the car slowly turn. I open my eyes to that see we are pulling into the driveway of a huge beach house.
