School. Sucks.

It's 7am on monday morning. Just yesterday, I was happy as could be, walking along quiet streets back to my house with Jack. We were admiring the flowering trees as he walked me home. Just two days ago, I was spending the night at Jack, Corbyn, and the boys' house. Things were amazing. Somehow though, I've let my anxiety cone back. I'm scared that the boys are going to forget I exist once they start to meet all of the prettier, more popular girls at school. I quickly brush the knots out of my long brown hair, and apply some light makeup. Normally I don't wear any makeup to school, but I figure that a little bit of blush, mascara, and lip gloss would be a nice touch for today.

Not wanting to be late, I sprint down the stairs and grab the lunch I made for myself last night. Quickly, I shove it in my backpack. My mom walks past me and kisses me on the head, telling me to have a good day at school. I tell her I love her, and eat a yoghurt cup, and a banana before putting on my shoes and running out the door. As I'm walking down the street toward my bus stop, I put in my ear buds. A song by Frank Ocean comes on. After a few minutes, my bus finally comes. I put two dollars into the token collector, and sit by the window, daydreaming, until I get to school.

The hallway smells like week-old sweat, and floral perfume. A disgusting mixture that violates my senses. As I walk into the front door, I'm greeted by Rachael. "EMILY!" She calls out. I take out one of my ear buds, and leave the other one in. "You haven't been replying to my texts all weekend!!" She yells. She isn't angry, but just her normal, energetic self. "I'm really sorry Rach. I had so much to do." I half lie. "You said you had something to tell me?? So what is it??" She gently punches me in shoulder, as if to tell me she's ready to hear some hot new gossip. "Yeah! I'll tell you after school. Want to hang out?" I ask her. "Of course! When do I NOT want to hang out?" She laughs and smiles. The bell rings, telling us it's time to go to class. Rachael and I have the same first period class, so we both go to Philosophy together. The class is boring. Rachael and I try to talk to each other, but each time we speak, we are shushed by an angry teacher.

The rest of the morning goes by slowly. I keep my eyes out in the halls to see if I notice any of the boys.

Then, it happens. It's lunch time, right at 12:00. I go to the cafeteria to meet Rachael. She isn't here yet, so I decide to wait. Then, I see them. Daniel, Corbyn, and Jack. They're all lining up together to get food. I swear, it's like Jack feels me looking at him, because he soon notices me. His already smiling face turns into an even bigger smile, as he waves me toward him. Corbyn and Daniel also turn around, seeming extremely excited to see me. I decide to walk toward them, since Rachael isn't here yet. As I'm walking, a tall blonde girl named Maddie purposely bumps into me. Quite hard. "Watch where you're going." She says, looking down at me. Her friends are all snickering. "You ran into me." I say, matter of factly. "No, I'm pretty sure YOU just ran into me." She says, her voice sounds high pitched and annoying. "No. I didn't." I say, pushing her to the side so I can walk. "Ew. Don't touch me! God. You're such a loser." She says. Her friends all laugh. I feel so ashamed. I see all three boys, staring with their mouths open, shocked about what's happening. I begin to walk toward them, when suddenly, I feel myself tripping. I quickly hold my hands out, to break my fall. One of Maddie's friends had stuck their foot out and tripped me. As I'm on the ground, I can't bare to look up. I'm so embarrassed, I want to cry. In fact, I do cry. The tears start almost instantly. I get up as quickly as I can, and run toward the exit of the cafetiera. "Emily! Emily, wait! Emily!"  I run as quickly as I can to the girls washroom, and lock the door behind me. I text Rachael, telling her to meet me in the washroom. The tears are streaming down my face, causing the mascara I specially applied this morning today to run all down my previously blush covered cheeks. I sit with my back against the wall, legs curled up, hugging my knees.

Jack's POV

I am in utter shock. I can't believe what I just saw. Anger is coursing through my veins. That girl who just was rude to Emily, confidently walks up to the boys and I. She smiles a fake, plastic smile and flips her hair. "Hi, I'm Maddie. Sorry about what you just saw. Don't worry though, that girl is a total nerd. She's a nobody. You guys wouldn't want her hanging around you, trust me. Sometimes I actually feel bad for her, when I realise that she's stuck looking like that." She giggles annoyingly. I feel my face turning red with anger. "You guys are new here. Well, I'm throwing a party next weekend, and you're all more than invited." She smiles her fake smile again; licking her lipstick covered lips. "You bitch!" I yell. "How can you go around treating people that way? You're disgusting." I yell in her face. She's obviouly extremely taken aback. "Oh, if you weren't a girl, I ought to punch you right here, right now." Corbyn says. He seems just as frustrated as me.

Daniel, who is also clearly very upset, calms Corbyn and I down. "That "nobody" is named Emily, and she's our friend." Says Daniel, in a calm manner. The blonde girl looks extremely mad. "You can not talk to me that way, and get away with it! I invited you to my party and tried to make friends with you, and all you do in return is be rude to me!" She stomps her feet angrily. "You guys are going to regret siding with her over me. I could have made you the most popular guys here. Now, I guess I just have to make sure that that won't ever happen." She stomps away angrily, her friends all following. I can't believe she thinks that we actually care about her opinion. "Corbyn, give me Emily's number." Corbyn gives Daniel and I Emily's number, and we all text her, trying to figure out where she's off hiding.

Emily's POV

When Rachael finally gets to the washroom, I unlock the door and let her in; locking it after her. It's times like this that I'm glad to have her in my life. She lets me cry on her shoulder for the rest of lunch. Quickly, she helps me clean the makeup off my face. I check my phone, and there is one minute left in lunch. Rachael gives me a tight hug, and asks me if I'll be okay. I guarantee her thst I will be. She gives me one last glance before going to her 3rd period class. I wait in the bathroom for about 10 more minutes. Soon, everyone has left the hallways, and I can slip out of the school without being noticed by anyone. I leave through the back door; checking my phone as I start to walk home. I have multiple missed texts.

I click "add to contacts," and add Daniel and Jack. I'm beyond happy to see that they care so deeply for me already. I still can't get over the embarrassment though. I text Corbyn and Daniel the same message. "Sorry, I didn't check my phone. I went home early. Thank you so much for caring. Seriously. Thank you so much."

I text Jack separately.
"I'm okay. Thanks Jack."
I text him again
"For caring"
I send one last message before putting my phone in my pocket.
"It means a lot to me"

~~~Authors note~~~
Petty drama really annoys me, so there wont be much. I wrote this about a year ago and rereading literally hurts me lol. I promise there isn't much.
