As the Jack knocks on the large wood framed door, I walk over to let him in. My heart begins to race, and I feel slightly guilty for not telling him that my parents were going to be home, and that this would be the first time he meets them. As the door slowly opens, I listen to each and every creak. Standing on the other side of the door is Jack with two large bars of chocolate. "I would have bought you a flower if I had time, but I couldn't go all the way into town, so I hope this is enough to help you start to cheer up." He says, with a goofy smile. "Oh Jack!" I say, wrapping my arms tightly around him. He hugs me back equally tightly, and we rock there for a moment. "It's perfect. Thank you." I say, taking the chocolate from him so he can take off his shoes. Quickly, I leave the extra large chocolate bars on the kitchen counter, and walk back toward Jack. His shoes are now off. "Hey, Jack." I say, "My mom is home. Are you okay to meet her? She knows who you are, so you don't have to lie about anything. Except.. maybe the sleepovers." I say, smiling. Jack returns the smile. "I would love to meet your parents! Maybe, you can meet my family some time soon too." I squeeze his hand, and we begin to walk toward the living room together. The second my mom sees Jack, she stands up from her chair, and walks right up to him. "My goodness, you're an attractive boy! Emily, you've done well!" She says, excitedly. I can feel the embarrassment radiating off my body. "Oh, now, don't be shy! Give me a hug! I've heard so much about you!" My mom pulls Jack in for a hug, and he lets out a quiet giggle. "Mom!" I shout. "Don't try to embarrass me on purpose!" I whine. "It's not like I'm  showing him baby pictures!" She lowers her voice. "I do have baby pictures if you're curious though" she says, with a pretend devilish smile. Jack is clearly holding back laughter. My mom has a way of making everyone like her. She somehow radiates happiness and positivity. "It's really nice to meet you, Mrs..-" my mom quickly cuts him off. "Please Jack, Mrs is so old. Call me Kate!" Jack smiles. "Alright." He says. "Well, it was lovely to meet you, Kate." My mom smiles, and pats Jack on the shoulder. "Okay, okay. The torture is over, you guys can go upstairs now. I'll sit and read my book." I thank my mom, and give her a hug before grabbing the chocolate from the counter, and leading Jack up the stairs. "So, this is my room." I say, gesturing with my hands, as I put the chocolates on my bedside table." I gesture for Jack to sit on the bed beside me, and he does so. "So, Em, why did you call me over?" He asks me, his mood changing from cheerful to concerned.

I begin to tell Jack how I was feeling. It started with just explaining some of the feelings I've been having recently, but then slowly developed into me telling him the bathing suit story, and bursting into tears. Talking about my insecurities is never something I've done before. Normally, I just think about them, or hold it all inside. It feels good to get it out for once. I just hope I won't scare Jack away. My tears turn into ugly crying, snot and all. No matter how hard I try, I just can't stop crying. Jack rubs my back, and gestures me to lay down. I do as he says, and lay down on my side. He slides in behind me, and begins to rub my back, quietly whispering "shhh, shhh, it'll all be alright."

Before I knew it, I was drifting off to sleep. The last thing I heard before falling into a deep sleep was Jack's voice. "You have nothing to worry about Emily. The second I saw you, in that hallway, I knew that you were the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I know for a fact that I will never meet anyone as beautiful. So, don't you worry Emily. Don't you worry." His voice fades away as I begin to lose consciousness, and drift off into a deep sleep.

Jack's POV

Emily is silent, and her breathing begins to become deeper, and slower. I can tell she is asleep. I wait by her side, and continue to rub her back anyway, in hopes that maybe it will somehow calm her down in her sleep. After a few minutes, I pull the blanket onto Emily's shoulders, and tuck her in. I notice the stuffed animal I won her is on her bed. Swiftly, I reach for it and place it under the blanket with her. I place a soft kiss on her forehead, and whisper "goodnight Emily." Before getting up, and leaving her room, closing the door behind me.

On my way down the stairs, I peak my head into the livingroom, and notice Emily's mom is still there. "Hi, Kate." I say. "I think Emily had a bit of a rough day, but I'm hoping I at least helped a little bit. I just wanted to let you know that she fell asleep, but I didn't want to let myself out of your house without saying goodbye, or thanking you for having me." I can see a smile grow on Emily's mom's face. "Oh, any time. Emily has been so happy recently, you are welcome to come over whenever you would like." At this, I smile. "Well, I'lll try not to invade your home too, too much." I joke, while putting my shoes on. Emily's mom follows me into the hallway to let me out of the door. "Okay well, thank you again for having me." I say, opening the door for myself. "Any time!" Emily's mom says, cheerfully. As I walk down the steps, I hear the loud click of the door locking. I look up to see if I can see Emily, but her room is dark. I hope she's sleeping well. I miss her already.

Emily's POV

I wake up to pure darkness, and I reach for my phone. As I reach for the phone, I notice the stuffed animal Jack won for me is right beside me. He must have put it there. I must have fallen asleep. I grab my phone and see the time is 4:07 AM. I have one text, and it's from Jack. "Goodnight Em, I hope you're sleeping tight."

I've never been so happy. I can't believe I found a boyfriend who is supportive, kind, funny, loving, and incredibly attractive. I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet.
