Yuzuru was sleeping. It looked uncomfortable, his head hanging down like that. I wasn't sure how anyone could fall asleep in that position, but then, Yuzuru had the enviable gift of being able to fall asleep anywhere instantaneously, just by closing his eyes.

He'd been exhausted all day, so it wasn't a surprise. At the station this morning I don't think he'd recognized me until he had a couple coffees in his system. He'd been glassy-eyed and a little punch drunk every time I'd seen him, and he'd slept between all his classes. Watching him now, I felt guilty. I really wanted to introduce him to my family tonight, but it was pretty clear he needed sleep more. When we got to Tokyo I'd let him off the hook so he could go to bed.

My phone buzzed with a message from my mom. Are you on the way?

I replied, then confirmed the time for the car they were sending. Even if I was facing a scolding, I was unreasonably excited to see my parents. They went away on business trips all the time, but this was the longest stretch they'd ever been gone. I couldn't wait to hug my mom again, and hear my dad's big laugh. Grandfather would be there too, and he always told the best stories and wore the best socks. His bright socks weren't just a gag for television, my mom said he'd worn them like that even when she was a little girl.

It was probably silly to be so attached to my parents at my age. Most of my classmates could only wish their parents would go off on long trips and leave them alone. But my family had always been so close that it was kind of like having an ear or a finger missing when they were gone. I was functional without them, but didn't quite feel whole. Tokyo was less than an hour from home, but I'd still hadn't gotten to visit them yet. I had school during the week, and they did the bulk of their publicity work on the weekends, so our schedules had never lined up. They might as well have been on the other side of the planet.

A gentle weight fell on my shoulder, and I turned to see the top of Yuzuru's head under my nose. Tajiri was rolling her eyes.

"Just 'cause he's a third year doesn't mean you have to let him do that," she said. "Push him off if you want."

I shrugged my other shoulder so I wouldn't disturb him. "I don't mind."

Her mouth tweaked to the side. "Oh?"

I should have done as she suggested. We were technically on a school outing and needed to be careful. But he was so tired. Besides, it wasn't that unusual to let a friend use your shoulder to rest on a train ride. For some reason I'd been battling the urge to get close to him all day, ever since this morning when I'd taken him to the station bathroom for a hug. I'd snuck in a cuddle when we first got on the train, but it hadn't felt nearly long enough. So I stayed where I was and pretended to ignore that he was sleeping on me.

The scenery between Yokohama and Tokyo passed in a flash. The express line took less than an hour, so when we were around ten minutes away I shook Yuzuru. "Yuzuru-san? We're almost there."

He grunted and raised his face, nuzzling my neck. His lips brushed my skin and sent tremors through me. God, that felt good, even if he hadn't done it on purpose. She's not you, I heard him say in my head, and the longing to hold him resurfaced all over again. I held my breath and tried not to make any weird noises. "Yuzuru-san," I said a little more urgently. "Time to wake up."

"Mm," he whined, and nuzzled me again. This time he kissed my neck for real. I still wasn't sure it was intentional until I felt his tongue flick my skin. Everything in me went tense, and I barely managed to suppress a moan. We were on a public train, sitting right next to our teacher and Tajiri, so I couldn't react in any way that might be obvious. He knew it, too, and kept moving his mouth playfully on my neck.
