Chapter 36: Unexpected
"Oh really? And what may that be?" Hark asked curiously yet not like he thought I had something important to say.
I knew this was gonna be dangerous, and if I said one wrong word it would be my head on a plate. I was taking a huge risk by telling him this, for all I know he could be pretending to want the Mexicans busted. Maybe it was their plan to make me trust a guard just so that they could test me, make sure I didn't spill, they had a lot of guards on their side. But being the main man at the Dumpster has taught me a thing or two.
"I just want to give you some intel on the Mexicans. You still wanna bust those fuckers, I can help you" I said, however it wasn't gonna be that easy. Now all I had to do is sit back and determine whether his reaction was credible enough.
"Yeah right. What do you know, you're the new kid. Youngest of them all. The only thing you're gonna be in here is a hole for these guys in here. I mean look at your face, at least you're actually gay. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for you, and I'll do my job and make sure no one hurts you, but... you gotta admit, guys like you shouldn't be around all these angry gorillas." He said and patted my head.
We had reached my cell. I smirked, I was sure I could trust him. Nothing in his body language seemed off or false, he didn't blink nervously nor did anything indicate that something was off about him. When the time was right, Hark and I would crush those fucking gorillas to the ground.
"Hark. I believe the two of us are gonna get along very well." I smiled. He gave me an amuzed laugh and led me inside the cell, he uncuffed me and left. "Yes!" I was so fucking happy, finally, I found my way out of doing the Mexican's dirty work. I completely forgot Owen was still in his bunk.
"Did you have a visitor?" He asked looking down at his feet. He was sitting on my bunk.
"Yeah" I answered simply, picking at dried blood from a cut on my chin.
"I brought breakfast, it's on my bunk" he said finally looking up at me. I noticed how red his cheek was. I approached him and knelt down on the ground in front of him.
"Yo, what happened to you face?" I asked gently placing my finger on his cheek. He winced and as I was about to retrieve my finger, he grabbed it suddenly. His grip was tight and from all the beating I had received prior to this, it kinda hurt. He just stared at me, not letting go of my wrist. Then his other hand went up to my cheek and his expression changed from anger to something more passionate. He slowly leaned closer to me. I, of course, turned my face to the side not wanting another moment with him.
"Owen. I can't" I said, apologetically.
His face transformed. He nodded, he was serious.
"Rumor has it that you're gay. Someone out there waiting for you?" He asked. What the hell? Why are people talking about my sexual orientation? I hate this place. I wanna be with Alec.
"Yeah..." I trailed off, I didn't bother saying anything else.
"He cute?" He tried smiling. I liked how he was not angry or one of those guys that got aggressive. I nodded and reached under pillow. I ran a hand over the cover of the book, The Great Gatsby, and opened it. I took out a photo of Alec. I remember taking this after I let him drive the car to the grocery shop. He was so happy. So careless.
Owen got up as fast as lightning. He looked horrified. "You're dating Alexander Bold?" He asked his expression showing serious disbelief. He frowned and looked at the picture in my hand shaking his hand.
"Why? How do you know him?" He shook his head.
"I shouldn't..."
"Look it's my boyfriend we're talking about. Wouldn't you wanna know?" I asked. A glint showed in his eyes. He sighed and sat down on the wooden chair behind him, resting his lower arms on the back of the chair.
