Blackened

3 Years Later

A young woman walks down a darkened street, looking for somewhere to sleep for the night. It is late already, almost two in the morning. No one is up, so she sighs when she realizes she was going to have to sleep in an alley again. She draws her tattered coat farther above her head to shield her face from the snow that fell all around her.

The laughter and music of bars sounds from ahead. The woman had not yet been in town, so she is unsure of her surroundings. She looks to her left towards a snow-filled alley. She is about to walk in and settle down when she realizes there was a druggie getting his high at the back. Anger quickly rises in her and she steps into the blackness of the alley.

A few seconds later, a muffle scream is heard and then abruptly cut off. The woman steps back onto the sidewalk, frowning to herself. She wipes the blood on the snow, staining it a red that fades to pink. She leaves the alley with her victim behind. It is too close to the bar anyway. Someone could find her while she would be sleeping.

The woman brushes messy, black hair out of her eyes with her clean hand and continues on her way towards the bar. The noise increases, almost hurting her ears. The woman begins to get angrier and she can feel her eyes turning a hollow black. As she passes the door of the bar, someone opens it. The noise blasts in her ears, causing her to stumble. She is tempted to walk into the bar and silence the noise. Or at least change it to something more of her...liking. Before temptation can affect her too much, she turns to run. The woman freezes as she hears the drunken man who opened the door call out to her.

"Hey, baby. You alright? Did my good looks startle you?" he says to the woman, taunting and inviting. She can smell the liquor on his breath and hears his steps coming closer. Rage washes over her, blinding her to everything but the madness. In a second, she has the man lying on the snow with her hand choking the life out of him.

She enjoys the feel of his gasps as life leeched out of him ever so slowly. His heart begins breathing slowly. The woman barely registers footsteps pounding away as if to save his life. Which was the case at the moment. The man on the snow tries to push her off, but it is like pushing a mountain.

As usual, she is filled with important and crucial memories to the man as his heart began heading towards its final beats. None of them are very concerning to the woman and she continues to choke him. His weak attempts begin to become even weaker.

Suddenly, she releases her grip as a memory hits a soft spot she detests but can do nothing about. The man begins taking in large amounts of air. The woman looks at him with a bored, but hateful expression. The image had been of the man's son. They had been playing at a park, nearby probably. By the lack of a woman with either of them, she guesses there is only the father. Not entirely dead as she wishes to be, the woman lets the man live only in order to take care of his child. The druggie back in the alley had been nothing. He had wasted his life and the woman punished him for it.

She bends down to his ear. "The only reason you live now is because of your child," she hisses in his ear. The woman straightens up and continues on her way. The roar of the bar dies down with distance which she is grateful for.

It was a few minutes before she hears the desperate sound. Smiling with thirst, she runs straight for it which was farther down the sidewalk. A couple seconds later, she finds herself upon a gruesome scene.

A woman is crying a waterfall of tears out as a drunken man shoves her against a wall and starts unbuttoning his pants. More rage consumed the woman, some still remaining after the first drunk. The crying woman tries to shove the man away from her, but he is too strong for her. More tears fall.

The man rips off the woman's top and starts sliding the short skirt she wore off. Roughly, he grabs her breasts and she begins protesting. How weak. The man raises his hand and slaps her. Her head rebounds against the brick wall painfully.

The woman looking in the alley had seen enough. In a flash, she is behind the rapist. She grabs the man's shoulders and hauls him off her. He isn't even able to utter a word before, she slams his body into the wall headfirst. She hears a crack as his head connects and quickly smells blood. Fishing in her pocket, she quickly takes her hand out with her beloved knuckled blades. They curve immediately. Sharp little spikes spring along the curve giving the wielder the ability to stab or cut someone.

The woman named her blades. They are the most precious item to her. One of the blades are silver and the other one is midnight black. Both are already stained with blood from victims earlier that night. The silver one is name Angelus and the black one is Mortis. As the woman approaches the whimpering man on the ground, she is flashed with his memories. Her black heart stays unfazed. The woman had to mercy for criminals. Letting Angelus flash in the moonlight, the woman cuts out the man's throat with Mortis.

She isn't watching as he bleeds to death. She turns her attention to the almost rape victim who had collapsed on the ground after the man had released her. Her savior sneers as she sees the still-dripping tears on her cheeks. It

"Get up and go home already," she spits. Suddenly, the victim grabs her arm saying thank-you over and over again. The contact made the woman annoyed and the tears the victim still cries.

She backhands her. Shocked, the victim cries harder. Her savior grasps the woman's chin in her hand. She places Angelus under the woman's vein. "Stop crying, you weak little insect. Crying doesn't do anything for you!" she roars. "I didn't kill him for you. I killed him for the pleasure of killing him. And I wouldn't hesitate to do to you what I did to him. Goodbye." The woman's eyes brims with tears, but none fall.

The woman walks out of the alley, leaving her victim behind. Before she turns the corner, she hears the young woman whisper to her, "What's wrong?" Ignoring her, the woman continued. Tired, the woman looks around. Where can she sleep?

What is wrong with her? She had been so light and carefree before. She had been so happy... But then rage and anger sickened her soul. Sin had crept into her heart, blackening it and leaving her paining, but merciless. She holds no love anymore, only hatred for everything on this earth and life itself. The only pleasure she took out of life now is the murder of the wrong. Everything else had lost its color so quickly.

Gladly, she would have killed herself long ago to free herself of the pain and hate, but every time she came close to the thought, she would black out and have... interesting dreams. Dreams she is compelled to follow that have haunted her for the past three years. Those dreams are to live. Even if she hates it with every bone in her body.

Her life is nothing but death now. She almost believes that she came straight from hell. She didn't understand how she could have so little feeling for her own kind. Her soul had been blackened with only the smallest shimmers of light. The woman was truly a demon.

"That was harsh," a familiar voice from the shadows comments as she walks past an alley. She ignores him and continues walking. An arm grabs her to make her stop. Angrily, she flashes Mortis at the voice, but as usual, he dodges out of the way like she knew he would. "What a temper." She continues walking.

Footsteps sound behind her. He is following her. Whipping around, she glares at him with pure rage. "What do you want, Jay!" He is her stalker. No matter how many times she tried, she just cannot kill him. He is always one step ahead of her and too quick with his vampire reflexes. They are much better than any other vampire she has killed. It ticks her off that she can't kill him. She wants to, though. Jay is too strong a reminder of what she left and it is for that reason alone she wants his head.

"I just want to talk, Leila."

I know that was way too predictable and that was longer than I thought it would be, but I tried my best eh. Ha.

I watched vampire knight! I liked it a lot! :)

Another rose will bloom soon.
