Chapter 11: Disfunctional Relationship?
Jay POV
I dragged a tired hand through my hair as I watched Leila walk back to me oh so cautiously. I pulled and tugged at the damned material harshly. God, I felt like ripping something out. If I didn't have tough vampire hair, I'm pretty sure I would be bald by now.
Well, that had gone down smoothly. As smooth as a baby's bottom. Did I say baby's bottom? I meant bed of fucking nails.
I had done everything wrong! I shouldn't have been so upset. I should have been calmer and less emotional. Jesus, what had come over me! I just was suddenly juiced up with energy! And to make matters worse, I made matters worse with Leila. The female hates me more than ever. God, I was infuriated with myself, too. I had hit her. Again. I didn't even have a good reason. It was purely out of anger. How could I have lost control? I was usually so careful with my actions. I had to be.
Deep down, I knew how. I didn't want to admit it to myself, but that fact was still shoving its ugly butt in my face. I don't want to point fingers, but really it was Leila's fault. It's not like she did it consciously, but she still did it. Ugh, thank you devil for this wonderful curse. I was going to have to be extra careful around Leila now. It was a wonder it was showing so quickly, though. Usually, they had till they were like twenty-five to enjoy life before they lived in hell. Maybe it was her experiences. Or maybe the devil was cheating again. Why couldn't he just play fair at his OWN game?
So now Leila had even more reason to kill me. More like a reason...she never really had anything on me to begin with. Still no reason is more than enough for her. I was hoping she wouldn't try to stab me in the back since I was her only chance of learning about her past. She probably wouldn't. Well, she probably shouldn't have reacted like that in the cafe, too. I really sucked at probability. I was never very good at it in school. Why should I be any better now? I have to hand it to her, though: she controlled her anger very well. Now, at least.
If she can't control herself later, Leila was going to be an unstoppable monster.
This was going to be rough.
Leila POV
I carefully walked back up to him with an open distrustful look on my face. My eyes searched his thoughtful face. His eyes were switching between a deep sea blue and a brick red. Sadness and anger?
I stopped a few feet away from him. His eyes deepened a color at the distance. Well, maybe if Jay wasn't so abusive I wouldn't stay, so far away. Fuck anyone who uses me as a counterexample. "You know who I am?" A scowl that was specifically set for him was plastered on my face. Mortis was set in my hand, hidden by my pocket.
"Well, not exactly..." he trailed off. What a waste of time. I started turning away. "But." Of course. He wouldn't be this easy to get rid of. "I know a few facts that could lead us to a start of our search."
I raised my eyebrow. The scowl and curiosity gave me a funny look. "Could?" I questioned. I wondered what could is. Ten percent chance? Twenty? This could all be time wasted that I could use to kill more of his kind.
"Well, I can't promise anything. I think there's a pretty good chance something will come of it. But it could also be a waste of time." Is he trying to convince me or not? I thought you only say positive things when trying to be persuasive. "The question is are you willing to take the chance? I can see a lot of upside to this. You learn who you are. And maybe that--" Jay suddenly broke off.
Humm...now what was he going to say. My damn curiosity was back up. When I die, I know it will be by curiosity since I like to snoop around for everything unusual. Curiosity killed the cat...and Leila. If I die from this little adventure with Jay, it would be because of curiosity. But it was hard to resist know who you are. And I couldn't resist.

Trust a Vampire? You've gotta be kidding me.
VampireI killed the only man I knew and loved. Well shit. Will I let the pain consume me or will I find light in my darkened days. Or will I die from too much exposure of Jay's cocky, arrogant, ignorant, unhelpful, snobby voice. I don't know, but probably...
