One thing to say before I begin....
That was it.

Chapter 21: Good Morning, Mr. Jay
"You found the picture?" Jay asked stupidly.
"I just said that, didn't I? If not, yes. I found the picture," Blaze said sarcastically. "Y'all wanna see it or not? I gotta go keep an eye on Kirara." Before we could give an answer, Blaze haphazardly tossed and object in the room and left. Jay nipped it out of the air easily before it crashed into the wall.
I was extremely nervous to see the photo. Rather the woman in the photo. Could she really be my mother? (AN: I know what y'all are thinking. And yes it's her mother but that's not what Leila means. :D)
Kiziah joined me as I sat on my bed. She laid her warm body on my lap. "You are really too big for this," I told her. Literally. Only like half of her body was actually in my lap. Kiziah looked at me with one eye before pretending to go to sleep. She knew this matter was important to me, but my dog didn't give two cents about it personally.
Because my fatass of a dog was taking so much room, Jay couldn't sit right beside me. He was forced to sit by her butt and her wagging tail kept on hitting him. I gave my dog a dark look she ignored. "Sit behind me," I permitted him 'cause I knew he wanted to. Jay looked so awkward and pitiable over there.
The next moment, his arm was wrapped around my waist. I leaned my body into his warm one. You can't imagine how odd and sensational feeling warm was to me. It was something knew that I was still getting used to.
Jay rested his chin on my head like I knew he liked to do. "Want to see it?" his deep voice murmured.
"Yeah," I murmured low, but I knew he could still hear me. Oh, that vampire hearing...
"I don't think you were born yet when this photo was taken since you're not in it. Or maybe they just wanted to keep you a secret..." Jay put the picture in my sight.
It was a lovely picture. Trees laden heavy with snow drooped slightly but held their burden. They fringed a hill before abruptly stopping for struggling grass to grow. It was pressed down by the snow. A young boy in loose summer clothes was running down the hill towards a frozen river while a carefree mother and father watched carefully on the grass. The boy looked eight at most.
The woman wore a bright red dressed that was in huge contrast with the snow-filled background. The stern-faced, brown-haired man had a muscular arm wrapped lovingly around the woman. He looked quite intimidating, but there was a kind glint to his eyes. She was very pretty. So pretty I couldn't believe she was my mother. The woman was absolutely gorgeous. But it wasn't movie star looks. She had her own natural beauty and a light radiated out of her tanned face. The man was just as handsome as the woman was beautiful.
The picture was late in the day. I think night was fast approaching when this was taken. Something was odd, though. The family--my family seemed so unaware. They didn't show any hint of knowing the camera was there. "Jay, I don't think they realized they were being photoed." Jay agreed with me. He said so many people wanted a shot of who it was that ended the war. Even though I hardly knew the people, or remembered them, they were still my family and I didn't like the thought of them being spied on.
I was now sure my parents were not human. It looked like it was the middle of winter, but they were wearing summer clothing. Well, that closed one door and only a few questions, but there were many more still open.
"So is there a special reason you wanted the picture, Leila?" That brought me back to my primary objective on my to-do list that I had forgotten while analyzing the people.

Trust a Vampire? You've gotta be kidding me.
VampireI killed the only man I knew and loved. Well shit. Will I let the pain consume me or will I find light in my darkened days. Or will I die from too much exposure of Jay's cocky, arrogant, ignorant, unhelpful, snobby voice. I don't know, but probably...
