"Can I come with you?" Roman asked.

"I dunno... I think I should do it alone..." I said unsurely.

"What? Why?!"

"I-I just... Don't want him to hurt you again."

"I... Well..."

"You've been hurt so badly and you've almost completely changed because of it, and- and I can't let it get worse-"

"But you got hurt too! We all did! Why should it be you to go?"

"I'm the least important."

He stared at me in shock. "No! You are not the least important! All of us are important and you said so yourself when you argued with me forever ago!"

"I..." I didn't have a good response.

"Tell me why you should be the one to go."

For a little while, I didn't know what to say. And then it hit me. "I'm the one he wants to see. I'm the target. Everything he's done was to hurt you guys, but mostly me. If anyone else goes, he could come back and ruin us again."

Roman hugged me again. "I don't want to let you, but... Okay. Just be safe, alright?" He reluctantly snapped and his sword appeared in his hand. He gave it to me.

In addition, Logan gave me his special glasses and Patton gave me his invisibility pin.

I searched every room in the house. Every room but my own.

I couldn't find Deceit but I knew he could trap me in my hidden side room again so I went to the other areas of the mind.

I talked to people. I talked to people. Too. Many. People.

I spent the whole day looking. When I came back to the house, I saw a new door.

It was a black door with the small opening at the bottom glowing a bright neon lime green. I knew exactly whose door it was. Taking a couple deep breaths and reminding myself that I had to do this to help everyone else, I pushed the door open a crack.

When no creepy snake burst out and killed me, I opened the door further. But nothing. I held the sword up. This had to be a trap.

I put Logan's glasses on and tapped Patton's pin, making me completely invisible. I looked through each wall, and nothing!

I checked, double checked, tripe checked, quadruple checked... But nothing.

It hit me.

He wanted to lure me into my room.

I had to calm myself down before I left the room and sprinted down to my own. I flung my door open and there he was.

I tapped the pin again, showing myself.

"Why hello there, friend," he said with a wicked smile.

"I'm not your friend."

"What are you doing with that sword? You don't think you have the guts to kill me, do you?"

I couldn't let myself become weaker, so I yelled, "I will if I have to!"

"Do you want to make a deal?"

"What deal?" I scoffed. "Unless you can undo all the harm you've caused, I won't accept."

"Actually, I was going to do just that."

"You're lying."

"I'm not."

"You totally are."

"Look. There is a room where all the memories of Thomas and every part of him are. I can clear the memories of myself to Thomas and your 'friends' in exchange for being able to live."

"I-I..."

"Do you accept?"

"No! You're lying to me!"

"You can have me gone and have them suffer from the painful trauma or have me here and them completely fine. You love Roman, don't you?"

"Yes, I do, but..." I then realized... Why didn't I just do it? They'd be so much happier. Roman would be so much happier not knowing what Deceit did to him especially!

"So, what will it be?"

When I couldn't form an answer, he smirked.

"Cat got your tongue?"

"...fine. You can do it."

"Good."

"But I get full access to the room as well."

He snapped and a key appeared in his hand, which he handed to me.

He led me to a dark corner of the mind and pulled out a key that was identical to the one he gave me. He unlocked the door, then closed it again.

"I can tell you think I'm lying. You can try the key yourself."

I inserted the key into the hole and twisted it. To my surprise, the door opened. We went inside and saw many, many file cabinets.

He led me to five cabinets.

They were labeled with the names of me and the other three main traits. The one at the very end was labeled, "Thomas".

"Take out the memories you need to, Virgil," he said. His voice sent shivers down my spine.

"Why aren't you doing it?" I asked.

"I'm giving you full control."
