*virgil's pov*

"I WANT HIM BACK!" I cried into my pillow.

"Weren't you the one who broke up with him?" Logan asked.

"Yes, but now I want him back! It's like when I was seven, and I gave away my Happy Meal toy, but then I wanted it back!"

"That makes sense," Patton said.

"He didn't text me saying he wanted me back!"

"Virgil..." Logan said, "you asked him to give you space. You asked him for time to yourself. He's giving you exactly what you want."

"EXACTLY! That's why I'm such a bad person - I don't know what the hell I want! I want him but I don't want him, so what the fuck do I do?!"

Logan looked like he was going to explode with frustration, when Virgil's phone began to vibrate.

"Patton, who is it?" I asked.

"Roman sent you a tex- wait, you changed his name to Creativity?!" Patton gasped.

"...yeah..."

"Why?!"

"It would be weird to have the old contact name there... Since we aren't dating anymore..."

"What was it before?"

I kept silent.

"Virgil, what was it before?"

"...Charming. With a crown emoji and four heart emojis."

"Oh..."

"You know," Logan said, "you can just change it to Roman."

I shook my head.

"Why not?" he asked.

"When Patton broke up with me, I couldn't stand seeing or saying or hearing his name for a while. Same with R- Rom- ugh."

"Huh."

Patton handed me my phone. "I think you should read it yourself."

"Why?" I whined.

Logan looked over at the screen and his eyes went wide. "Seriously. You need to see this."

I took my phone from Patton's hand, opened the message, and began to read.

Creativity: hi.. I know you want me to leave you alone but I just had to say that I know now that I was totally wrong. I read what you left me in my room and I'm sorry for everything. For pushing you and yelling at you even tho you just wanted to protect me... I shouldn't have been so stupid. And none of this is your fault but you always say it is! I was the bad boyfriend, not you. You deserve someone so much better than me. Deceit is a terrible person and I didn't believe you before and I want to thank you for what you did to help all of us. You're the real hero.

Virgil: im sorry for lashing out on you...

Virgil: i didn't mean it i just wasn't thinking

Virgil: i know you didn't mean to hurt me and we both did really stupid shit

Virgil: but we're always fighting and we need to just stay away from each other.. thanks for understanding

Virgil: i'll see you later.

I was about to put my phone down, but I wanted to send one more text.

Virgil: roman i love you please don't beat yourself up over me.

*virgil's pov*

I went down the hallway to the stairs so I could get a snack, but I heard a muffled sob coming from one the other side of one of the doors.

I could tell the person was pacing around frantically from the speed of the footsteps. I almost instantly knew it was Roman.

I did that to him.

I ran to his door and knocked at least ten times. "Roman, let me in! Look, I'm sorry! Please don't be upset over me..."

Suddenly, the pacing and crying stopped, there was a thud, then complete silence.

"Roman?!" I screamed. The door was locked so I went to get Logan.

I asked him for his glasses and he handed them over. I ran back to Roman's door and peered inside.

"NO, NO, NO!"

Patton sprinted down the hallway to where I was and he hugged me. "What happened?"

"Ro- R- he..."

"Deep breaths, Virgil. Take your time."

I took a few deep breaths before I started to speak again. "H-He..." I handed Patton the glasses. "Look for yourself."

I couldn't take Virgil's place because of Roman saving him...

So it was time to take Roman's instead.
