*patton's pov*

It was the day we had to do the thing to accomplish the thing.

Logan made breakfast and handed me a plate of food and kissed me. Virgil stabbed his food subconsciously, deep in thought.

"Hey Virgil," I said and sat next to him. "Are you okay?"

"What if Roman never does come back? Like, what if I actually have to move on? I can't move on! That's too much work!"

I looked at Logan for help, but he was busy pouring us water.

"Well, we aren't sure yet, so don't jump to conclusions, as Logan said to you, right?"

"Yeah, but what if?"

"But what if this all works perfectly and we all end up happy by the end of it?" I didn't even believe myself.

"Well, knowing Nicky, this won't end well because she wants to torture her readers and make this book last longer because she doesn't want it to end because she cares about it so much!" he said and pouted.

Logan turned around, gave Virgil a warning look, and turned back to get some ice cubes from the freezer.

"She might have mercy on the readers this time," he sighed and pulled the ice cubes out and put a couple into each glass.

"Shush!" I said.

*virgil's pov*

Logan sat next to me and whispered, "I promised Patton last night I'd tell him what Deceit did... I think it may be time to put his memories back..."

I sat there, frozen for a second, before thinking about it, sighing, and agreeing. "Yeah... Probably. He deserves to know." I then looked at Patton. "Patton, I took out the memories of Deceit from you. The biggest ones that caused you the most emotional damage. I don't know how you'll handle it, but I think it's time we do this. I'm going back to put in your memories."

Patton's eyes widened and he looked and me and Logan back and forth. "O-Okay. I think I'm ready. I think."

"And... This might be hard for you. But when Roman's here, you'll have all of us to help you through it. I'll be back soon. Give me ten minutes." I got up and went to my room.

In my secret hiding spot next to the book that I hadn't looked through in quite some time, were the memories. The stack of Logan's was gone, as I'd already given them all back. Roman's was still there. I got all of Patton's, and then my key to the door.

Then I noticed something.

The book had gotten even thicker. It hadn't been like that in a while.

I set down the memories carefully and reached for the book, looking to the last page.

Roman: Let me go! Virgil and the others think I'm dead, but I can't have you be the reason one of them is killed!

Deceit: You foolish dummy. Virgil will do what I say because he is so stupid for love. You'll be let go soon. I'm sure he'll be killing himself, though, so maybe you won't be seeing him again.
