Chapter 12

Muskaan's POV: The present...

I came back home from the park at around 9:00 pm. Mom was already asleep by the looks of it at least...I wonder why? She usually doesn't sleep this early. I slowly went to her room, and as I went closer I heard sounds of laughter...me being the curious person I am...peeked inside...she wasn't sleeping.
Looks like my mom's best friend was back from her vacation...
My mom's bestest friend, she has been with us for such a long time 11 years to be precise. She is truly a gem of a person! She is one of the people I can trust with things I don't want my mom to know but I need some elderly advice...
This marvellous lady is none other than Sulochana tai AKA Sunny tai!
Sunny tai is our maid...well we never treat her as our maid, we always treat her like a family member. She also thinks of us like a family member.

Some things you should know about Sunny tai are...

1) she is Maharashtrian, so she speaks Marathi and has a strong accent.
2) if you have a problem, think twice before sharing it with her..she will not stop bothering you until the problem is solved...or if you look happy enough to her
3) she thinks of herself as an extremely advanced modern college girl...she is actually 50 years old.
4) she has an entire list of contacts that she can contact anytime..an example is Pappu paanwala
5) last but not the least....Sunny tai loves the english but, Sunny tai can't speak the english, so be careful what you say around her...

I was just standing by the door thinking about Sunny tai when she called me...

"Arey (hey) Muskaan! When did you comes?(e)"
"I came just now, I thought Mom was sleeping, but here you two are talking!" I said with a smile
"(E) Me too, I comes now...from vacation!" She says
"did I say that correctly?" She asked curiously
"Yes, you did!" I assured
"So how are you?" She asked
"I am fine, how are you?" I answered
"(E) I is great! Fit and fine!" She answered in her broken English
"I'm fine too!" My Mom interrupted, she had this fake jealous look on her face that said 'thanks for ignoring me'
"Sorry mom, how was your day?" I asked with a sigh
"It was great! Sunny just came back at around 7:00pm" Mom answered
"Right! Sunny tai, how was your trip?" I asked
"It was great! Tinu did such a good job booking my trip!" Sunny tai answered
"Who is this Tinu?" Mom asked with an arched eyebrow
"Tanush! The one who owns the travel agency!" Sunny tai answered like she was talking about some next street food vendor.
"Ohhh, right" Mom said, I knew she had no idea about who Sunny tai was talking about but she had to pretend. Or else Sunny tai would go on a full on description of this 'Tanush'

We sat and laughed for a bit, then we decided to go to sleep as it was quite late....

I went to my room, and sat on my bed thinking of today...
I am so happy! Today my two friends are finally together! I have been waiting for this day since the day Virat told me he had a crush on Shagun! I am very happy for them....but what about you? When will you be happy? I shrugged away that thought. It has been a while since I, Muskaan Thakur have fallen in love!

I mean my first love rejected me even though I knew he loved me back! Thanks to Virat for telling you...
He didn't even tell me the reason why he rejected me even though I asked him multiple times!
He just walked off leaving me in a pool of tears even after knowing how much we have been through...together!
He never even tried to explain his decision!

I mean those are pretty strong reasons for someone to completely loose faith in the word LOVE...

I didn't even want to think of him right now! Thinking about him makes me want to beat him up!
I quickly thought of something else and went to change my clothes before I went to sleep.
I changed and sat in my bed, I opened my laptop and looked through my emails to see if there was anything important...turns out I have a court hearing in two days! Great! Just great!

My client Ms. Averna Rai, was in college when a group of boys from her college decided to throw acid on her! Thankfully they threw it on her back and not her face, but still! The group of boys has been up to no good! They have conducted around 2 attacks already and Ms. Rai was their third victim.

I quickly pulled out Ms. Rai's file and immediately began to study it...for the 4th time. I have to be sure about my case!

I then went to bed at around 2:00 am...

The next morning...

I woke up pretty late like at 9:00am (I know..that may be early for some of you, but for me it's late).
I went downstairs after taking a shower and checking my emails.
I walked into our living room only to see Shagun and Virat hugging the receptionist from Malhotra Industries! My mom and Sunny tai were also looking at them with adoring eyes.
I went up to her and asked...

"Hello, aren't you Ms.Patil, the receptionist from Malhotra Industries?"
She responded by turning around and looking at me, she was shocked to see me too.
"Ms..Ms.Thakur?" She asked confusedly
"Stop being so formal you two! Muskaan, this is your childhood friend, Sunny tai's daughter...Arya"
