Third person POV: the present......
"Tell mummy papa what?" Shagun said while looking up at her phone.
"Were you not listening to what I was talking about" Virat asked
"Sorry, but I never listen to anything you say." Shagun said as she burst out laughing. Virat didn't say anything but gave a slight sad chuckle. Muskaan found this extremely odd, as if Shagun had said this before the two were in a relationship then Virat would have started to argue with her. She also noticed that the tone of Virat's laugh was not a happy one.
"Virat...she just said that she never listens to you, are you not going to get mad?" Muskaan asked, partially of the hope that she would lighten the mood.
"No, it's okay...I'm used to it actually." Virat said while scratching the back of his neck. The look on his face changed from a normal one to a disappointed one.
"Oho! Used to it" Chandni said while she gently pulled Virat's ear.
"Yeah auntie! You know she is always on her phone...god knows what she is doing, so she rarely listens to what I have to say." Virat said as he went out of the room shocking everyone.
"Kya hua re isko? (What happened to him?)" Sunny tai asked worriedly.
"Kya hua hoyga? Nakhre dikha raha hai bas! (What would have happened? He is just showing attitude)" Shagun said casually, although she said it casually there was a slight hurt tone in her voice.
"Shagun! How can you say that?!" Muskaan said as she went outside to look for Virat.

Outside the house.....
"Yeah! Bro I don't think he gives a sh*t about her anymore! I mean it has been quite a while since all of this happened! He was bound to forget about her!" Virat said to someone on the phone.
"Who are you talking to?" Muskaan said as she approached him
"Listen Vinay, I'll call you back! *Disconnects call* Oh, it was just Vinay...my friend." Virat answered.
"What's the deal between you and Shagun?" Muskaan asked while coming straight to the point. She needed to know what was going on between her two friends.
"She doesn't spend time with me that's all! Whenever she is with me, she is always on her phone! I mean rishta mujhse joda hai ya phir phone se? (I mean does she have a relationship with me or her phone?)" Virat complained.
"Really! So you couldn't have asked why I am on the phone the entire time? No! Saara kaam bas tu hi karta hai mein toh bas baithe baithe makhi marti hoon na! (You do all the work I just sit and kill flies right!) You could have asked me, what I was doing! I could have some work, I am not the daughter of the owner of a company unlike you! (She is hinting to how Virat's dad owns a company in Bangalore) I'm just a regular employee, that needs to support her middle class family. So if I need to keep checking my phone it is due to work reasons, and not any other reasons!" Shagun said with tears in her eyes.
"Guddi, I didn't mean that, you can do whatever you want-"
"No! When we were inside the house, you specifically said 'god knows what she is doing'-"
"Shut up Shagun! Kahan ki baat ko kahan le ke jaa rahi hai! Let him explain his side at least! (Why are you taking this so far!)" Muskaan yelled.
"You don't understand Muskaan! This has been going on for so long. Shaq ki bhi had hoti hai! (There is a limit to suspicion)" Shagun complained
"Mein shaq nahin kar raha! Tumhe jo karna hai karo, mein toh- (I wasn't suspecting anything! You can do whatever you want, I was just- )"
"Just what Virat! If this was another silly prank of yours then....you know what Virat, I just need a break" Shagun interrupted, and then she turned her back while keeping her hand on her head. Virat's face just dropped. He had pulled a prank on Shagun, but he hadn't thought it would go this far...his first and only girlfriend..was asking him for a break?
Muskaan was furious! Shagun was not letting Virat say what he wanted to say..she was just assuming how she was right and he was wrong..how could she!
"A break? What does that even mean Shagun?" Muskaan asked, she was beyond angry.
"I just need some time" Shagun said
"Time for what Shagun? To stay away from Virat! Instead of facing your problems you are just running away! At least listen to what the guy has to say. Tum toh bas bole jaa rahi ho! (You are just continuing to speak!) You are just assuming that you are right without even listening to his side!" Muskaan yelled.
"He has been doing this for such a long time, he is wrong!" Shagun stayed put with her decision.
"Shagun! How can you just jump to conclusions!" Muskaan was beyond shocked. Shagun had never been like this.
"Right now when you were talking on the phone, must have been some other girl!" Shagun said as she started to cry.
"Shagun how could you eve-"
"No! You made a huge mistake Virat!" Shagun whined
"Shagun! He only made one fuc*ing mistake! It's not like he has been making mistakes over and over again! Aur galti insaan se hi hoti hai na! (only humans can make mistakes)" Muskaan yelled
"Exactly Muski! Galti insaan se hi hoti hai (only humans can make mistakes)" Shagun said calmly.
"Wh..what do you mean?" Muskaan asked. Shagun's sudden change of attitude had shocked Muskaan.
"He only made one mistake and even when we tried to explain his side, you didn't listen" Virat said as he came up to Shagun and kissed the back of her hand.
"What do you guys want to say..and weren't you guys fighting like 2 minutes ago" Muskaan said, she was very confused.
"What we wanted to say is that Akash only made one mistake, and that was not giving you an explanation (refer to chapter 8 when Muskaan expresses her love to Akash), and you now have a lifelong grudge against him?" Virat said.
Muskaan was left thinking...did she do the same thing that Shagun did in this facade that she and Virat had put up?
"Akash isn't a bad guy Makhi, the situations ruined the entire setting. Give it a thought" Shagun said as she fished the keys to her scooty from her purse. Virat then too started his bike. They then looked at Muskaan, she looked like she was to start crying any moment now. They wanted to comfort her, but they knew that Muskaan had to sort this dilemma on her own.
"So what am I supposed to do now?" Muskaan asked while tears streamed down her eyes.
"It's up to you Makhi, but whatever you think of doing....let your heart decide." Shagun said as she drove away.
"Remember this Makhi, whatever you decide, I...we are always with you. Call me if you need anything!" Virat said as he too drove away..leaving an extremely distressed Muskaan behind.
