Virat's POV: the present.......
"VIRAT! COME DOWNSTAIRS!" My mom yelled, waking me up from my precious sleep. To be brutally honest I was startled so wearing whatever I was wearing I ran downstairs and looked at my family sitting peacefully in the living room, seeing this I was relieved that everyone was fine, and none of my mom's relatives were coming over (trust me that is a disaster). I then ran my fingers through my hair and said,
"What happened?"
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING!" My mom yelled. I was confused, what was wrong with my clothes, I looked at my mom and shrugged, she then widened her eyes and pointed at my t-shirt.....that's when it hit me....I wasn't wearing one! I wanted to go and hide under a rock, but me being the extremely shameless person I was looked down and said,
"What's wrong?"
"What's wrong! You're asking me what's wrong! Is this how you come downstairs! Is this what I have taught you?" My mom yelled
"Veena, chill. My Viru probably forgot that he is too hot to handle, it's okay..go Viru, go shower and wear a shirt" Anju said. I swear if it weren't for her...
"Anju! Thanks for being there with me! Mummy, I was sleeping when you called...no yelled so I was startled and I thought something bad happened, so I didn't see what I was wearing..more like wasn't wearing and I came downstairs, sorry if you felt bad." I said while turning to go upstairs, I knew my senti dialogues melt my mom like ghee in a diya (clarified butter in a mud lamp)
"No Viru, beta (my child). I didn't mean it in that way, it's your house, you can wear whatever you want, but the thing is, when you get married, will you also do the same?" My mom asked while making me sit on the couch between her and my dad.
"Wouldn't it be more common for him to be walking shirtless after marriage Veena?" My dad asked without looking up from the newspaper he was reading. I honestly was shocked, my dad rarely teases me, but when he does...it makes me want to go die in a hole.
"Wait wait wait! Why are we talking about my marriage all of a sudden! Mom I am not getting an arranged marriage with one of your sati savitri (sweet and innocent) relatives! Please!" I said, as I got up and turned towards them, I mean they could be planning it, after all they were my parents..could be conspiring anything!
"How long will I have to wait to get a daughter-in-law? Look at you! You are 25 years old, handsome, you have a well paying job-"
"Yeah..well paying job. We don't even know where you work! You could be a drug dealer for all we know!" My dad taunted...I haven't told them about where I work..so I get all my paychecks deposited as soon as I get them. This is why my dad keeps on taunting me about it.
"Dad! We already talked about this, I work at a software developing company that is located in Churchgate (place in Mumbai). Do I not show you my bank account balance...did I ever ask you for money after I got my job..then?" I argued...Churchgate? Yeah we had a criminal investigation there once, so I guess that counts....
"Then why don't you ever go to work like a regular person! I never in my entire existence heard you say, 'Pappa! I am going to work'. You are always sitting at home." My dad countered
"I work from home that's why. Churchgate is 45 minutes away from Juhu (the place in Mumbai where Virat, Muskaan, Shagun, and Akash live), so since I am the head of the department, I don't have to do much work, and I can work from home." I replied. If I knew that I was this good at acting, then I would have joined the film industry instead!
