Chapter 18

Akash's POV: The present time...

"Darling Mumtaz! You don't know how much I missed you!" I said as I knelt and put her back on the ground. I hugged her once more, she put her head on my shoulder and nuzzled up against me. She then wrapped her golden arms around my neck and looked into my eyes with her warm gentle brown eyes.
"It feels so good to be back Tazu" I said as I gazed into her love filled brown orbs. She loves me a lot
"Let's go sleep. It's time for our afternoon nap anyways" I said as I carried her in my arms to my room.
I then gently placed her on the bed and layed beside her. She then snuggled closer for warmth.
I was loving this feeling, my love right besides me. This felt great, especially since I know that my Mumtaz would never leave me, she would always stay by my side.
RING RING
Ugh who is calling me right now. I looked at the caller ID...it was Virat....wasn't he going out with Shagun?

"Hello?" I asked
"What are you doing?" Virat asked
"What are you doing? Anything fun?" I asked teasingly
"Oh I wish! Shagun had to go somewhere last minute...because of Ishita didi" Virat chuckled
"Oh, well...sucks to be you! I'm at home sleeping with my darling" I admitted
"Darling? What the....oh...oh...OH that kutta!( dog)" Virat asked
"It's a kutti (female dog) and don't you dare call my sweetheart a kutti! She is ten times better than most dogs!" I defended...yes...yes Mumtaz my darling is a dog...a golden retriever to be exact...I don't like it when someone calls her a dog though! She is wayyyy more understanding than most dogs anyways!

"Whatever! Why the hell are you sleeping with your dog?" Virat asked disappointedly
"I sleep with my Mumtaz every afternoon! It is our routine!" I defended once more
"Yeah cause at night you sleep with someone else!" Virat taunted
"Hey! What do you mean! I don't sleep with anyone at night!" I said defensively
"You do! You sleep with the memories of Muskaan!" Virat said...oh my filmy friend...
"That was too cheesy...just too much" I said
"Okay, what are you doing other than sleeping with your kutti" Virat asked
"Ummmm...nothing much really. Why? Do you have a plan or something?" I asked
"Well...today is a good day to walk your dog, so if you want to hang out at the meeting spot....hold on Aki! Shagun is calling me...plans cancelled!" Virat said as he ended the call.

Oh my desperate friend....you are also desperate...for her love!
I rolled my eyes at the comment my heart made!

I then slowly drifted off to sleep and woke up an hour later....surprisingly Mumtaz wasn't there beside me!

"Mumtaz! Mumtaz! Darling where are you?" I called

I then looked down from the stairs and saw the most amazing thing.
Mumtaz was wrapping herself around a bright green bird who was visibly hurt and whimpering. The love of animals was beautiful. I showed that although humans will forget humanity, animals will never forget it.
I quickly ran down the stairs and took the little green bird in my hands...it looked like a parrot. I then took a box filled it with newspaper and gently put down the bird in the box. I then told Mumtaz that I would be back in around 1 hour as I was taking the bird to a veterinarian.
I then put the box with the bird in my car and drove off to my friends Dr.Manish who was also Mumtaz's vet.

I reached his office and went in and told the receptionist that my dog...Mumtaz had found an injured bird so I am here to give it treatment. She quickly looked at the bird and took it with her to the doctor. I then waited in the waiting room only to be seen by her....no not Muskaan....Shagun! Not just Shagun..Virat was also with her. I gave her a short smile which she didn't return..instead she told Virat to wait for her here while she went to get her pet treated.

You see I wouldn't have a problem if I saw Muskaan...cause she hates me so much that she would just get out of the office and come back later. Shagun...she is a different story...she hates me...and wants me to know and engrave it in my veins that she hates me. That makes me very sad. We were once good friends...

"What the hell are you doing here?" Virat asked when Shagun was out of sight
"Mumtaz found an injured bird so I came here to get it treated" I confessed
"Why here though?" Virat asked...he was panicking
"Did I know that you would be coming here with her?" I asked
"Okay Sorry! Now please wish me luck...I'm going to tell her today?" Virat said
"What? That you love her?" I asked with an arched eyebrow
"No! About you and your story!" Virat said
"Bro she is going to be pissed at you!" I warned
"I know! I'll have to tell her sooner or later! I'd rather tell her before we are in a relationship...I don't want to go through a heartbreak like you did.." Virat said
"Well then...good luck!" I said with a smile...which he returned
"Virat?"....oh s**t! He is screwed...Shagun was right behind him
"Next time think a hundred times before you break someone's heart! It's a heart and not a toy! Let's go Shagun" Virat said as he winked at me to let me know it was just to save himself from Shagun. He then left hand in hand with Shagun from the clinic.

A few minutes later the nurse called me to let me know the condition of the bird. She told me that it was indeed a parrot. She was a female. She had gotten herself into an accident...and she could also talk...interesting! The nurse asked me whether I would be willing to adopt her...of course I said yes.
Then after finishing the remaining paperwork I took Arjumand...yes you heard it right...I named my darling sweetu parrot Arjumand....why? Well the simple logic is...

Mumtaz Mahal was a Mughal empress. Her name before marriage was Arjumand see the logic?

So technically my dog and my parrot are like the same cause I am not treating one more dearly than the other just because I can talk to one and sleep with the other.

While I was driving back I realized that my Arjumand is going to need a room...I then called up the best person for the job

"Hello" I asked
"What do you want boss?" Arya asked. You heard...read right..I called Arya...she is my assistant anyways.
"Well the thing is...I have a bird..I need you to order the necessary stuff for her room." I said simply
"You want me...to...to..get some stuff for your bird? Wait your bird has a room?" Arya asked in a shocked tone
"Yes, my bird has a room instead of a cage. I hate animal imprisonment. Don't be so shocked! You are my assistant now, this is a part of your job! Take some money from the company and get me the best things required for a bird...like bird food, some toys, a litter tray..or whatever they drop their s**t in, get a water tray...you get what I mean right?" I ordered
"Ughhhh fine Aki" Arya scowled as she ended the call.

"Arjumand....we are home!" I said as I took the box with Arjumand inside my house.
Immediately I was welcomed by Mumtaz who leaped up to my knees and started barking. Her barking startled Arjumand and she immediately started flying. Wow...what an improvement in just 29 seconds.

"Arjumand! Get down here!" I ordered.
Arjumand then landed on my arm...what a disciplined bird! VAH!
I then told Mumtaz to go to her room...and she did...as I told you before..she is 10 times better than regular dogs!
I took Arjumand to her room and left her there...it was an empty room...we will have to wait for your furniture.
Then just as it were planned I got a message from Arya...

Sorry Akash, I got your stuff but I can't come give it right now. Mom needs some help. Hope you understand.

Fine Arya if that's how you want to be!

Okay that's fine. No problem! ...I replied

So then I closed the door to Arjumand's room then said goodnight to Mumtaz and finally went to sleep after taking a shower.

Today was a hectic day!
