Night came and the boys set up a bonfire and a candle lit dinner by the beach.
Seeing Jace ang Harold so close now makes me smile. Parang noon lang hindi nagpapansinan yung dalawa, pero ngayon para na silang mag bestfriend. Speaking of, nakakalungkot lang isipin na nagkalamat na ang pagkakaibigan ni Harold at Stephen. Kahit naman hindi sabihin ni Harold sakin ay nararamdaman ko. And I can't help but think that I'm one of the reasons. No, I am the reason.
"Phia. We're here to unwind. Please stop making that worried face. Sawang sawa na ko dyan." pagbibiro ni Ranz habang inaabutan niya ako ng pineapple juice.
Ranz knows me so well at nagpapasalamat ako na kaibigan ko siya. I don't think I would have survived everything without her.
A few minutes later ay nag aya na ang boys na kumain. The dinner was filled stories and laughters. Ang dami naming kwento, akala mo hindi kame pumapasok sa iisang University.
10 pm na nung ayain ako ni Jace na maglakadlakad sa shore. Doon pa lang ang nakaramdam na ko na may plan sila for Ranz. Hindi naman talaga kame lumayo, nagtago lang kame sa iilang coconut trees sa paligid.
And there I witnessed Harold proposed. A simple and sweet proposal. I'm so happy for them. I immediately went to Ranz and hugged her noong nakita kong nailagay na ni Harold ung singsing.
"Bridesmaid ako ha!"
"Ayoko nga." She teased while wipping a tear from her eyes.
The next day ay umuwi na kami dahil may mga kailangan pa kmeng ayusing papers for the complition of our OJT. Ilang araw nalang ay gagraduate na ako!
I was fixing my things in the office when someone called me. I was frozen on the spot.
WTF? Akala ko ba nasa USA siya ngayon?
"Sophia. Please, can we talk?" he asked. I wanted to be rude and tell him to go away, but there is something in his eyes that made me say yes. Maybe we need this, I need this. We didn't really end up well and there were no explanations given. Siguro yun na din ung dahilan kung bakit I have been in pain for so long, kasi wala akong pinanghahawakang dahilan para bumitaw noon.
We went to the cafe near the company. Nakatingin lang siya sakin at hindi siya nagsasalita.
"You said we need to talk?" I said trying to break the silence.
He nodded. "I'm sorry." he said. "Naging malupit ako at nasaktan kita. But believe me Sophia I had no choice."
No choice? No effin choice? I wanted to yell at him but I was trying so hard to keep my cool. Kung wala lang kame sa public place baka nasuntok ko na tong si Stephen.
"She threatened me na kung hindi kita iiwan ay sasaktan ka niya."
I couldn't take what he's telling me so I cut him off. "That is one lame excuse! What? She's gonna kill me then? Tingin mo ba hindi ako nasaktan noong bigla mo nalang akong iniwan? Walang explanations! You left me hanging with no chance of rescue. You broke me to the point na akala ko mamamatay na ko. You had your choice Stephen. And you chose to break me."
Hindi ko na napigilan ang mga luha ko. Ramdam ko na pinagtitinginan na ame ng iilang mga tao sa cafe pero wala na kong pakialam.
"I know Phia. Huli na nung narealize ko yun." he said unable to look at me. mabilis parin ang pagtulo ng luha ko at hindi na ko nag abalang punasan iyon.
"Sophia, I'm sick."
"What?"
"I'm dying."
