Buffy - chapter seven

I couldn't sleep how could everything with Cyrus I met him in second grade how could though years of friendship mean nothing to him anymore, so I made a plan, a plan to make him talk to us again,

when andi woke up I put my plan into action,

"hey where is the best place to play basketball," I asked, hoping andi wouldn't think it was odd

"behind the high school but most of the time the basketball team is there, you know why do you ask," andi turned to me  putting her hairbrush down on the counter, I then spotted her day planner she had a piano lesson this morning in a half hour,

"well you have that lesson today so I thought I might go shot some hoop for the hour get some extrazied," I shrugged like it was no big deal I hope it wasn't too early for the team and by extension Cyrus to be playing basketball

"Oh okay, Chloe texted me saying we could meet for lunch if your down, she makes the best grilled cheese," andi told me I wasn't really paying attention anymore,

"sound good text me the address ill be there at noon," I nodded grabbing my phone pulling on my shoes and heading out the door,

"okay have fun shooting hoops," andi grinned turning back to get ready as I hoped down the stairs and left the house, walking to where I believe the high school to be, it ended up being a little bit father then i though but luckily at 9 am there where people playing at the court, sitting under a nearby tree I scooped them out, then I spotted him

Cyrus sat on a bench playing card with Tate, this was my plan of action but I felt frozen like it was too risky, but I need to do this,

"Hey Cyrus Its been awhile," I said as I approached him he looked up almost being put back for a second,

"Buffy, it has been a while," he nodded like he was unsure of his words, Tate was sizing me up like right now it was his job to watch out for Cyrus,

"Yeah, well its only been two or three years" I shrugged,

"with no contact or anything," Cyrus reminded me why did he sound different like he was a different person.

"I tried you never call back or texted or anything," I defined this want all my fault he was the one who had blocked me out not the other way around,

"somethings just need to be left behind, things changed," he nodded Tate looked awkward like he was out of place which he was really, but what could you do,

" too much that I wasn't worth talking to," I was attracting the attention of the whole team now, they had stopped playing I should have stoped there but I couldn't I didn't.

"too much that i need someone new, to see the better me, the person I've become if you and andi wanted to stay the same that's fine but I wanted a new world," Cyrus explained like he had something happen to him like he needs to change

"so you left us behind," I was pushing too hard I knew I was but at this point, I wanted answer he wasn't walking away from any more,

"I didn't leave you behind you left your life somewhere else andi was much happier with her weird friendship with Johan I couldn't keep up with them and then Chloe so I found people who made me happy made me feel like I belonged somewhere," Cyrus looked on the verge of tear as Tj stepped in

"I think you have to leave now," he defended Cyrus,

"why its a public park," I defended

"don't you have to go met your friends somewhere,"  he asked, so I walked away but hiding behind the bushes the game rusem and Cyrus just took a deep breath and played again. what kind of relationship does that not comfort the person your dating, why would Cyrus stay with this guy,

I walked to Chloe house shortly after that she lived quite a bit away, but it gave me time to think the time to wonder why Cyrus had grown to be like this, that wasn't the boy I knew,

I didn't really know what to do anymore I was quite through lunch and mostly for the rest of the day luckily andi never questioned me, Chloe almost did but I guess she decided it wasn't her place.

at around dinner I and andi sat watching some cop show that andi liked when a knock came at the door, I rose up to get it open the door to see Cyrus, Tj was in the car parked on the side of the road I guess he could drive now made since he was 16,

"Hey, I'm sorry I lashed out on you, I guess I had just thought I had left my days of being closeted and crushing on people who could never like me back behind me," he said but he spoke with a calm demeanour like he was ready for this more then I was.

"why would you want to leave though days behind you,"I asked really he didn't seem unhappy but maybe like I had seen andi do several times I had miss context clues,

"when I was still closeted and I liked Johan, I had this feeling of helplessness, but with Tj and Tate and the basketball guys you don't know really, I wasn't I was whole, just me not anything that people expected because they had nothing to expect," he sighed,

"Cyrus you act like something happened to change you like your not the same as you where," I told him he talked like he had been hurt I really didn't understand why,

"something did happen," andi spoke up for the first time, as I turned to her she looked down at her suffy shoes "Jonah found out about Cyrus crush,"
