Upon arriving to the restaurant, conversation was mute.

I sat beside Peter, on the opposite side of the table from May.

She watched us, looking thoughtful.

Peter didn't talk, and I was tired, so from her point of view it probably looked like two pissy teenagers.

I leaned onto Peter, picking at my food as he sighed.

"What's the matter?" May asked. "I thought you loved larb?"

Peter didn't respond.

"Too larby? Not larby enough?" May continued.

Peter tilted his head and made a irritated face at his plate.

I closed my eyes.

"How many times do I have to say larb before..you talk to me?" May asked with a chuckle.

I opened my eyes again, or I'd fall asleep, so I sat up.

Peter looked up at her with a grim smile.

"You know I larb you?" May said, biting her lip.

I smiled, nudging Peter with my shoulder. "I larb you Peter.

He bit his own lip and poked his plate with his chopsticks. "I'm just stressed..the internship, and, I'm tired."

I nodded knowingly. He didn't look at me.

"Gotta tell ya," May started. "Not a fan of that Tony Stark. You're distracted all the time. He's got you in your head."

Peter was staring at the tv behind her, not paying attention.

"Yeah, in your head," I poked his temple. "You're not paying-"

I was cut off as he moved one hand under the table and pinched my thigh. "Ow!" I cried out, looking up at the tv. May gave me a weird look.

A photo of Delmar's appeared on screen, all burnt and ruined. It was talking about an ATM robbery that SpiderMan thwarted.

I felt anger bubbling up. Now, here's why: Peter never tells me where he goes. And I can understand that out of habit, but he does the most dangerous shit.

I'd have to bring this up later.

"What does he have you doing?" May brought both Peter and I out of our collective thoughts. "You need to use your instincts." She realized Peter wasn't paying all the attention she thought she had, and turned. "What?"

I sniggered at the photo on screen. It was unflattering, so Peter turned and have me a mean look.

"Wipe that look off your face Peter, or I'll do it for you," I whispered, holding my cloth napkin threateningly.

He smiled despite himself.

"You see something like that happening, you turn and you run the other way," May turned back to us.

I nodded, and Peter said, "Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Of course."

"Yes Aunt May," I said, and received a glowing smile from her. "I meant May," I covered, and she shook her head. "It's fine."

Peter rolled his eyes.

I thought back to what May had told Peter.

The thought that May was telling him to run the other way made me want to laugh. Peter saw dangerous stuff and ran to it.

"Six blocks away from us," May mused at the tv.

"I need a new backpack," Peter said abruptly.

I gave him a curious look.

May did the same. "What?" She put her hand to her ear.

Peter tilted his head again with an adorable smile. "I-I need a new backpack."

I would've given in, which is why I make Peter ask May, or else I'd give him anything he wanted.

May frowned. "That's five!"

I stared at Peter. "Five?!"

He widened his eyes pointedly, and ran a finger down my nose.

I looked back down at my plate, wiping wasabi off my nose.

"Sticky rice pudding," said someone, and I looked up to see the waiter.

"Oh, we didn't order that," May told him, and he smiled.

"It's on the house," and he walked away.

I grinned at Peter, who made a face.

"That was nice of him," May said with her own smile.

Peter looked back after him with squinted eyes. "I think he larbs you," he chuckled and titled his head again.

May have a faux gasp.

I laughed, "Peter larbs you too, May."

Peter nodded. "I larb you too," he winked at me.

I felt butterflies.
