MJ walked out of one room, saw me crying while looking at the floor, and wrapped me in her arms and led me to class.

"Peter chose her again."

"He'll choose you, I know it."

"Peter Parker is in the tower."

Friday's voice scared the shit out of me.

And the name she mentioned only made that worse.

"What is he doing here?!"

"He's talking with the boss."

I jumped up, running out of my new room and towards where Peter was.

I watched from as far away as possible.

Tony presented him with a new suit.

I was already thinking of ways to kill him.

Peter turned it down.

I was apologizing to Mental Tony for killing him.

Peter walked away by himself.

I shadowed him.

He waited by the car.

I slowly walked toward him. "Peter?"

He jumped, spinning to me and almost whacking me to the floor.

I grabbed his arms, flashing back to that day in the shop room. Spying on bad guys together.

"What?" Peter asked, panicked, searching my face.

I gripped his arms tighter. "I'm so sorry."

He blinked. "Nothing's an emergency?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Good," Peter straightened me up.

We sat still, the silence awkward. And I felt rushed, never knowing when someone was coming for me. Whether Vision or Happy, who was more then likely coming to take Peter home. I repeated my apology.

Peter looked to the ground, face shadowed and hard to read. "I...I am too."

I placed a hand on his shoulder, and he shrugged it off. "Peter, when I said you weren't an avenger....I just didn't want you to die."

Peter nodded. "That's pretty selfish though."

I sighed, kicking a tiny rock. "I know."

Peter finally looked up at me. "But I get it."

I frowned a bit. "What do you mean?"

Peter stepped closer. "The moment I found out you were the assassin who ran with the Black Widow, I had a panic attack over knowing it was you who was putting yourself in all that danger."

I scoffed. "So you do understand!"

Peter shrugged a bit, looking toward the compound. "I might."

I felt that block again. Something in me that stopped me from telling Peter how I felt, something that made me stop talking.

Peter looked up at me, then looked back down. "Well, I guess you're going to be living in the Compound now."

I only nodded.

"And...and you're still an Avenger," Peter muttered.

"Tony offered to make you one," I whispered.

Peter only twitched his head.

"And you turned it down," I continued in the same hushed voice. "You'd've been in the room next to me."

Peter looked slightly regretful upon hearing that.

"But I'm glad you're going to lie low," I spoke in my normal tone.

Peter flinched.

"Cause you'll be safe."

Peter nodded. "So will you."

I sighed. "Maybe. I'm researching the Infinity Stones. And Thanos. But don't worry about that."

Peter looked confused, but shook it off as Happy walked towards us, keys jingling in his hand.

I lowered my gaze to the floor, and let him walk away.

Again.
