(It's hard to come up with these damn titles! JK)
After class, Peter, Ned and I wandered down the halls back to the lab in the nearly deserted school.
"First, we put the glowy thingy in the mass spectrometer," Ned decided.
"Yeah, but first we need to come up with a better name then 'glowy thingy'" Peter said with a grin.
I smiled, leaning slightly closer to Peter. "Why not just calling it the energy core?"
Peter smiled at the floor and wrapped an arm around me.
Ned pretended to gag on something on the other side of Peter.
Peter looked up at the hall as I watched my feet. "Crap!" He whispered, letting go of me and vaulting behind the wall.
Both Ned and I froze in confusion.
"Come on come on come on come on come on!" Peter motioned for us to follow.
I leapt over to him, having seen the guys in the hallway.
Ned waddled over.
I stood behind Peter, peaking out into the hall over Peter's shoulder.
Ned watched as well, over mine and Peter's shoulders.
"That's one of the guys that tried to kill me," Peter whispered.
I gasped. "What?!" I hissed.
Peter cringed, shrugging with a guilty look on his face.
"We gotta get outa here!" Ned cried in a whisper.
Peter put a hand behind him, which would've prevented me from moving if I'd planned on doing that. "No no no, I gotta follow em. Maybe they can lead me to the guy that dropped me in the lake," Peter said.
I sighed, grabbing his shoulder so he spun around. "You are in so much trouble."
He gulped.
"Someone dropped you in a lake?!" Ned asked.
Peter looked back into the hall. "Yeah, it was not good."
I tapped his shoulder roughly. He turned to look at me with a harsh, "What?!"
I gripped his shoulder. "You and I are going to have a long talk later that you're not going to enjoy."
He smiled. "I'm looking forward to it."
My mouth fell open, and I raised my hand up with one finger pointed up to tell him a thing, but he gave me a charming smile and grabbed my wrist.
He spun me, so I now faced Ned with a finger raised. "Hi Ned!" And I spun back to Peter, who was no longer there. "Son of a b-" I muttered. "Ned, stay here."
I jumped out of the hallway, inching along the wall.
When I was certain no one was watching, I popped into the room Peter jumped into.
I landed right behind him.
He didn't notice.
"Peter!" I whispered.
He jumped at least three feet into the air, spinning around to see me while whispering, "SHIT!" In a loud tone and almost knocking me into the hall.
I grabbed his arms to prevent that from happening. "Language!" I mouthed.
He frowned deeply at me. "You know what Y/L/N?!"
I shushed him and we turned simultaneously to see two talk men in the shop room.
Peter crouched down on the stairs, and motioned for me to follow.
"Man, can you imagine what the boss would say if he knew we were here?" One asked.
"It's saying there was an energy pulse here," the other said, completely ignoring the other guy.
Meanwhile Peter and I snuck under a table.
"The glowy thingy?" I mouthed to Peter, who nodded.
"There's no sign of the weapon," the man with the scanner said. "And even if it was here, it's gone now."
Peter grabbed me and rolled over, grabbing the sides of the table top and lifting himself up, along with me.
I wrapped my arms around him and held on tight and waited till the men walked past, almost letting go of Peter.
Whose face was inches from mine.
Kissing distance.
But we'll ignore that.
The men paused a moment, so I held my breath. Then they moved on, climbing the stairs.
Peter extended one hand, shooting something off his wrist.
It landed on the guy's shoe, and I watched in slight disgust as it crawled up his pant leg.
Peter sighed in relief as the guys left the room.
I fell to the floor with a thud.
Peter and I froze in slight panic, incase those guys heard me.
They didn't. "Hey, what was that anyway?" I whispered.
"Tracker," was all Peter said. Then he dropped, catching himself inches over me.
I smirked. "Hey you."
He dropped to his elbows with an even sneakier smirk. "Hey you," he returned.
"You look very handsome from this close," I whispered.
He lowered his chest onto mine, causing my breath to hitch. "You look very beautiful from any distance, to be honest with you."
I let out a breath of air I'd apparently been holding. "Rascal."
He smiled less sneakily. "Thanks sweetie. Let's go."
As he was about to roll off me, he paused. "Unless you'd rather stay here and-"
"Parker," I laughed out. "Just go."
He smiled. "A'right."
