We both rolled over, panting.

Not making eye contact.

It was too painful.

I was grateful when his mask re-materialized onto his face.

So I did the same.

Both Peter and I froze when a blue and black cloud appeared suddenly, and a huge, purple Hulk-look-alike stepped out.

Okay, upon closer inspection, he looked more like a purple jolly rancher with a body.

Strange sat calmly. "Oh yeah. You're much more of a Thanos."

I gulped.

Peter grabbed my hand.

That hurt.

Not physically, but because that's probably all if get.

Thanos looked around. "I take it the Maw is dead. This day takes a heavy toll. Still, he accomplished his mission."

Strange shrugged. "You may regret that. He brought you face-to-face with the Maser of the Mystic Arts."

Thanos looked bored. "And where do you think he brought you?"

Strange looked around. "Let me guess. Your home?"

Thanos looked around again. "It was. And it was beautiful. Titan was like most planets."

The whole planet changed.

Suddenly, Peter and I lay on a highly polished building, surrounded by life and green plants.

It was fake, I could tell.

He had the reality stone.

That's what this was.

"Too many mouths, not enough to go around," Thanos went on.

I don't want to hear it.

"And when we faced extinction, I offered a solution," he said simply.

And now I gotta hear it.

Oh god, I'm turning into Tony.

"Genocide," Strange offered, voice full of contempt.

I felt sick.

"But random," Thanos corrected. "Dispassionate. Fair to the rich and poor alike."

I held Peter's hand as tight as I could.

"They called me a madman." Thanos never rose his voice. Never. He spoke calmly. "And what I predicted came to pass."

Strange didn't look interested. "Congratulations, you're a prophet."

"I'm a survivor," Thanos once again corrected, voice still unbearably calm.

"Who wants to murder millions," Strange countered.

"With all six stones, I could simply snap my fingers. They would all cease to exist." Thanos remained cool. "I call that mercy."

Strange stood up. "And then what?"

Thanos regarded him cooly. "I'd finally rest. And watch the sun rise on a grateful universe."

Peter turned to me. "I love you, okay?"

I nodded. "I love you too, okay?"

He nodded.

"The hardest choices require the strongest wills," Thanos said simply.
