"You got bit by a spider? Can it bite me?" Ned asked.

Peter and I had collaborated in telling Ned the SpiderMan story.

We were both fed up with him by now, as he kept pestering.

I held half of Peter's stack of books, and he held the other.

"Well, it probably would've hurt, right? Whatever. Even if it did hurt, I'd let it bite me. Maybe. How much did it hurt?" Ned went on while Peter and I shared irritated looks.

"The spider's dead, Ned," Peter said.

"Peter told me it was really sore for like, two weeks Ned," I added. "Like, it hurt bad."

We continued walking the familiar route until we got to the bodega. We all froze and gawked.

It was in total ruins, and like Peter said, it had been sliced.

I cringed upon seeing it and the bank on 41st street.

Ned stared at it. "You were here?"

Peter muttered "yeah."

"You could've died," Ned added.

I gulped, linking my arm through Peter's. "Yeah, you could've."

He stared down at our linked arms. "Yup, but I didn't."

I sighed. "Yeah, thank goodness."

"You care that much, don't you?" Peter whispered back.

I nodded. "Damn straight."

Peter's eyes filled up with a new light.

Ned looked at us for a moment. "Lovebirds," he muttered. Then he gasped, "Do you lay eggs?"

I opened my mouth in disgust.

Peter frowned and looked at Ned. "What? No-o-o-o-o."

I made a gagging noise. "Thank heavens."

"Well, you basically do, Y/N." Ned pointed out. "Every month."

I gave Ned a look. "Be quiet."

Peter smirked ahead of him.

"Do I wanna know why you thought that Ned?" I asked as I tightened my grip on Peter's arm. "Peter, please tell me from now on when you're going to do something stupid," I whispered to Peter.

He nodded.
