Chapter 14

LEXI’S POV

July 30 *2 months after prom….3 months after the accident

The next morning, after prom, I woke up in Harry’s arms, and we pretended like the kiss never even happened. Everything was back to the way it was.

Now the boys only have a week left with us before they have to go back on tour. I thought about Harry all the time, I told myself not to get attached to them but I did and just the thought of them leaving created a hole in my heart, the same hole that the boys had just started to fill.

I wasn’t ready for them to leave, and the closer the date came, the more I thought about Harry. I hadn’t been able to forget about that kiss, it was driving me insane, I thought that if I kept things simple with Harry that maybe it’d be easier on me when he left, but it wasn’t. It was still just as hard to let him go as it would have been if I hadn’t run away from that kiss.

I had begun to love them all, I had only known them for three months but these boys changed my entire life, they’ve been there for me every single day since I was shot. They saved my life and now five of the few people that I really truly loved and cared about in this world were leaving me. They weren’t even gone and yet I still felt abandoned.

I had no idea how Kayla was dealing with it, she avoided talking about it, we all did.

Today is Kayla’s birthday, she’s turning five. The boys told us that they were taking us out to dinner to celebrate. They’d be here at six thirty to pick us up. It was already six, I was ready for the most part, I was dressed semi-formal, since I knew the boys would want to take us somewhere fancy, especially since they only had a week left with us. My side was pretty much completely healed now…I didn’t need the boys to take care of me anymore but I still wanted them there with me… The vulture girl still hadn’t been caught, and it had been three months, so as far as I was concerned, she had moved on.

*an hour later: 6 o’ clock….I heard a knock on the door, and walked over to open it.

“Kayla! They’re here!” I called to her.

I opened the door and Louis picked me up and spun me around. Then they all crowded around me and hugged me so tight I thought I was going to suffocate to death.

“Geez! You guys are awfully excited to see me!” I breathed when they finally released me.

“You have no idea! This is going to be the best dinner ever!” Niall said, jumping up and down like a little kid.

Then Kayla walked in and the boys all rushed at her, yelling her name.

She saw them charging her, screamed and started running. But she wasn’t fast enough and Liam had her in his arms in seconds, as they crowded in to give her a group hug too.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLA!” Harry yelled. Then everyone yelled to her ‘Happy Birthday’ too.

“Thank you!” she said when they stepped back. Then Zayn put her on his back and started sprinting out the door, on his way he grabbed my hand and dragged me out with them. I look outside and see a huge, shiny black limo.

“Oh my gosh! You got me a limo?!” Kayla squealed excitedly

“Anything for the princess!” Niall said, as he placed a tiara on her head.

We all piled into the limo and the boys were practically jumping out of their seats, they were bubbling with excitement, smiles plastered across all their faces.

“Where are we going?” Kayla asked.

“We’re just going out to some restaurant we found” Liam stated.
