Chapter 6

May 14...same day..

LEXI'S POV

Bridgett and I rode on Leo's back until the very edge of the forest, it took hardly any time since Leo's strides were so long and he was already fast to begin with, the new size made him even faster.

When we reached the edge of the forest I found us a black crow to take us from here. He was the perfect choice, since he would blend into the black of the night. His name was Adli, meaning honest. We rode in silence the entire night, flying lower over the earth when there was no one around and flying high up in the sky around civilization.

It was freezing up here, and Bridgett, Leo and I were all huddled together on Adli's back. If we were cold now, I could only imagine what Antarctica would be like.

We flew until the sun started to rise. We landed in a frost covered grassland, and luckily there was no one around.  We took refuge by a nearby little tree, and slept for a good seven hours, then we awoke and continued our journey, riding on Leo's back. We traveled the entire day and then continued by night, flying with another crow.

We continued traveling for the next couple of days, doing our best to avoid civilization, we did spend one night at a motel so we could shower and restock our supplies.

It was May 16, the third day of our travels when we finally arrived on the continent of Antarctica. It was freezing cold, colder than I ever could have anticipated.

I put on the giant boots I had made for Leo and wrapped him up in a large blanket. He looked ridiculous but it was necessary.

I took out the little GPS system I had gotten that would take us to exactly 36.54 degrees longitude and 90.78 degrees latitude. Bridgett and I huddled together on Leo's back, it was daytime and it was summer, but it was utterly freezing here.

It was early morning and I hated the thought of the sun going down and leaving us in total darkness.

From the point we were at, we were probably 80 miles away from our destination. That's nothing compared to the distance we had just crossed. We continued our journey, hoping that by the end of the day we'd have...gotten rid of Caroline once and for all.

HARRY'S POV

Liam took off at an insanely fast pace, and it took all my strength to hold onto his shoulders and not fly off.

We were going so fast I couldn't even make out any of the things around us, everything was a total blur and I'm amazed that we didn't run into anything.

We stopped after about four hours of straight running. We took a little break then continued. We ran in four hour intervals for most of the day. I don't know how far we had gotten, but it must have been pretty far. Liam was exhausted now, and so was I. I didn't have super strength like Niall did and my arms were killing me.

It was only six o'clock but it had been a very long day.

"How far do you think the girls are?" Liam asked.

"I don't know, I mean they've got a huge head start on us, but we'll catch up to them, right?"

"I don't know... I strained myself today and I'm exhausted...I've never run so fast for so long in all my life, I just don't know how far I'll be able to go tomorrow. It was stupid I should have paced myself. Especially with the extra drag I had, with you holding on to my shoulders. Today took extra effort." he said.

"Great...well let's just get some rest and we'll figure it out tomorrow when we wake up" I sighed.

"Alright, that sounds good" he yawned. Even though it was early we both fell asleep right away.

May 14

I woke up to the sun shining brightly in my eyes. I shot straight up and checked my watch. It was seven in the morning. We'd slept for a whole thirteen hours.

"Shit! Liam! Get up! Get your fuckin' ass up!" I yelled.

He grumbled and rolled over. "Liam! Get the fuck up! We have to go after Bridgett and Lexi! Let's go!" I yelled again.

He shot straight up and turned to a blur, with in seconds he had everything packed up and ready to go. "Ready!" he said.

I quickly gathered my things and we once again took off. This was a major set back. We probably put more distance between us then we started off with.

We ran the rest of the day, taking regular breaks. We stayed in a motel for the night and showered and restocked our supplies.

I set an alarm for early in the morning, hoping tomorrow would be the day we'd catch up to them. I knew it was unlikely though...they were probably there already. I fell asleep that night and had the worst dreams I had ever had before in my life.  I couldn't help but think of the worst.

LEXI'S POV

May 16

Bridgett, Leo and I had traveled at least 40 miles and it was only twelve thirty. Bridgett had made Leo at least two times the size of an elephant since there was no one around to see him and traveling was much easier with Leo's new size.

"Bridgett...."

"Yeah, Lex?"

I turned to face her "I'm sorry I had to ask this of you. I know it was so much to ask and I'm so sorry." I said slowly.

"Aw, Lex, babe, I'm glad you did, don't be sorry, you're my friend. I've only known you for five months, and I've known the other girls of the Cyneward for practically my whole life, but I feel closer to you than I ever have with the other girls. Lexis, you've been an amazing friend to me and I would have done it even if you hadn't asked." she smiled.

"Thanks Bridgett." I smiled back. "You know, it's nice having a girl friend again. I miss being able to talk about girly things. You've been an amazing friend to me too Bridgett. I love you."

"Love you too, babe" she giggled.

I leaned in and hugged her tight "Thanks again, I never would have made it this far with out you."

"Anytime."

We continued our journey, talking and occasionally laughing and I told her all the embarrassing stories I'd had with Liam. We talked about Liam and Harry a lot...I missed them, this was the longest time I had ever spent away from them.

Our conversations slowly started dying down the closer we got to our destination. We were about a mile away when Bridgett spoke up "I'm getting scared Lex." she whispered.

"I know, I am too, don't worry we can do this."

"Yeah, you're right, we can do this. We can do this."

I hugged her and Leo slowed down a bit. "Lexi, I'll protect you." Leo said.

"I know you will. Protect Bridgett too, kay Leo?"

"Of course." he responded.

In less than five minutes we were there. It was five o'clock and the sun was starting to go down. I guess things are different down here. Leo started shrinking and Bridgett and I climbed off of Leo's back.

Our plan was to hope and pray it would be sleeping so we'd be able to get in, get it done and get out of there. If it was awake we figured Bridgett would simply be able to shrink it. I crossed my fingers and grabbed Bridgett's hand "Here's to hoping it's asleep" I said holding up my fingers. She crossed hers too, and we looked at each other and nodded. Then we started to make our way into the pitch black mouth of the cave.
