May 16...same day...

LEXI'S POV

I could feel Killian slowly calming down, and thats how I knew it was working. I could feel his heartbeat against my palms, and it was slowing down. He wasn't snapping at Leo anymore and it was taking Leo less of an effort to hold him down so the others had gone to Caroline.

I could feel Harry's warmth spreading into me, making me feel safe and protected.

My thoughts had gone interrupted for a while until I heard a thundering screech, like that of a dying vulture...

My eyes snapped open and I spun around at the same time as Harry. Caroline's wings had swung open, throwing everyone backwards and into the snow.

They groaned in pain, they were okay, but none of them were getting up. Now Kayla, Leo, Leila, Harry and I were the only ones left standing, and Leo was slowly shrinking...

Caroline stared at me in fury, eyes glowing red, nostrils flaring, hair blowing wildly in the breeze. She really looked like the demon she was. Only now, she had multiple patches of white all over her.

Harry shoved me behind him, placing himself between me and Caroline and whispered "Don't stop. You can do this".

He stepped towards Caroline, a scowl planted firmly across his face.

I reached out and placed my palm against his hip.

"I HATE YOU!" she screamed at me. "LOOK AT ME! I'M HIDEOUS!"

"Harry..." I whispered shakily.

He turned his head to the side and looked down "I'll take care of her, love. Keep going" he said, almost sadly. His eyes flickered up to mine for a second, then he turned his head back to face Caroline and gently removed my hand.

"I love you Lexi. You can do this. Now go" Harry said pushing me back gently.

I was shaking now and it wasn't from the cold. I was completely and utterly terrified. I was doing something to Caroline, and she was furious about it.

"Leo! Leila! Help Harry!" I yelled to them.

"Lexi, the monster" Leo argued. He was his normal size and he still was willing to go up against it.

"Leocadia! Kayla will handle it. Go!" I ordered.

Leo and Leila both dashed off, reluctant to leave Kayla and I.

Kayla stood at my side, next to the beast and put a shield around his body to keep him still, even though Killian was very calm now, and wasn't struggling as much. I placed my hands back against him, where Kayla had made a hole in her shield.

I could feel both the beast, as well as Caroline, slowly weakening with every thought I had. I wanted this to be over with already and I could feel that the end was very near.

I tried to drown out everything around me, and focus entirely at the task at hand. I couldn't afford to be worried about anything right now.  I was soon enveloped in my thoughts, and was only partially aware of everything going on around me.

Hours seemed to pass, but I knew it couldn't have been more than a couple minutes.

I was thinking about Kayla's first birthday when I felt the beast shudder against my hands and his heart beginning to falter. I slowly removed my shaky hands from the creatures thick fur and turned around.

Leo, Leila and Harry had Caroline pinned down, but the moment I turned around, Caroline must have had a sudden surge of strength and managed to throw them off her. She stalked towards me, and with a single sweep of her wing she sent Kayla flying.
