Sequel: Chapter 7

May 16...same day...

LEXI'S POV

Bridgett, Leo and I crept slowly into the dark cave, I was only illuminating it slightly and I was fading with every step I took.

I clutched Bridgett's hand tightly and she gave my hand an encouraging squeeze. The cave was huge, it was wide and tall and it seemed to go on forever. We went at least a hundred feet, listening for something, anything that would tell us that we were close.

"Lexi!" Leo hissed. "Stop! I hear something!"

I paused, and Bridgett stopped with me. "What is it?" she whispered.

"Leo hears something" I answered. We stopped talking and strained our ears to hear what ever it was Leo was hearing, but I still couldn't hear it.

"Bridgett, you hear anything?"

"No… Let's go a little farther."

We continued forward, walking as quietly as possible. We went another twenty feet and stopped again, I had heard something. Bridgett paused too and then squeezed my hand. "I hear something." she whispered.

"Me too" I said shakily. We continued walking forward at a deathly slow pace.

"Lexi, turn it up a bit, I can't see anything." Bridgett hissed after a while.

I closed my eyes and thought happy thoughts. Bridgett gasped and my eyes flew open. I was about to scream when Bridgett's hand flew up to my mouth.

"Shhhhh!"

I blinked hard and nodded.

She removed her hand slowly and squeezed my hand so tight I was sure the blood had stopped flowing there.

In front of us, was a giant bear-like monster. And it was almost exactly how Derrick had described it.

He had a snow white coat twice as thick as a polar bear, he had the teeth of a lion seal, and he had claws like that of a dinosaur. The only difference was that he wasn't the size of a bear like Derrick had said.

He was twice the size of a bear. I swallowed hard and the room faded back to black, as did my confidence that I could do this.

HARRY'S POV

It was four thirty when we arrived in Antarctica. It took us a long time to finally get here, and I had hoped we would have caught up to them by now, but they were no where in sight.

We'd been traveling for four hours straight now and I could tell that Liam was exhausted.

"Liam...maybe we should take a break..." I said. I didn't want to, but it looked like he really needed one.

"No, we have to keep going, we're only eighty miles away, if I keep going, we can make it there in half an hour."

"Oh, thank God." I sighed in relief.

"Don't strain yourself too much." I warned. He didn't answer, he just took off, and my hands almost slipped from his shoulders.

About fifteen minutes later he stopped again.I let go and stood next to him "Ready for a break now?"

"No, Haz look" he said, pointing at the ground.

I looked to where he was pointing but didn't see anything. "Snow? Liam we're taking a break now. You're becoming delusional."

"No I'm not Harry! Look at what we're standing in!"

I looked around me and saw what he had been marveling at. We were standing in a giant paw print.

"These look familiar to you?" Liam said.

"Leocadia, they're Leo's paw prints, just...bigger."

"Yeah, and I think they're fresh, other wise the snow would have covered them up by now."

"What are we waiting for then?! Let's go!"

LEXI'S POV

"Lex, babe, a little light would be great!" Bridgett hissed.

"Oh, right sorry.”

"C'mon! Let's just get the heart and get out of here! That thing is scarier than Merle!"

"Leo, make sure it doesn't wake up." I whispered to Leo. He sat down and kept his eyes trained on the demon. We searched everywhere and couldn't find it.

"I can't find it!"

"Me either...what if...you don't think...no it can't be...-"

"Bridge! Spit it out!"

"C'mon, let's take this outside...I don't want to risk waking him up."  I nodded and we quietly backed away from the demon.

"What if the demon has it? Like as its own heart...?" she asked, once we had exited the cave.

"No, that can't be, Derrick never said anything about that."

"Maybe Derrick didn't know. No human has ever met this demon before, there could be a billion other things we don't know about this thing." We stood there for a while, absorbing and processing this new information.

"Well what do we do now?" I finally asked.

Leo barked, interrupting what ever she was about to say.

"Now, I'll finally kill you. Once and for all." I spun around and stepped back from the horrible creature standing before me "I told you I'd be back, and I brought back a few of my friends too."
