Chapter 8
May 14
Harry’s POV
It was seven thirty in the morning when the nurse woke us up and told us we could go and see the girls and that they should be awake at any time.
Paul had gotten back at two with our change of clothes, so Niall and Zayn no longer looked as if they walked right out of a horror movie, even though, in a way, they did.
Nurse May escorted us to a medium sized, plain, white room with two windows right across from the door, and a bathroom to the left side of the room. There were a few chairs that lined the left wall and two small beds on the right; in between the two beds was a curtain, dividing them, making it so you could only see the first bed clearly and the foot of the second bed. In the visible bed was a child with beautiful red hair and the most angelic face I've ever seen.
“This is Kayla.” The nurse said smiling and, pointing to the small child.
“Kayla.” I whispered to myself. It fit her perfectly.
I looked around to see if the others had heard, but they all seemed to be in a trance too, even Paul. Her face was just so innocent, it made you want to hold her, protect her, and make sure nothing bad ever happened to her. I could tell the others felt the same way, by the looks on their faces.
“And this is Alexis.” The nurse said as she pulled back the curtain, revealing the second bed and breaking us from our trance.
“I’ll be back in a little to check on them, Kayla should be up first.” She said, walking out the door and closing it behind her.
In the second bed, was a girl, unlike any girl I had ever seen before in my entire life.
She was more beautiful than the stars in the sky, the setting sun, and more beautiful than the sound of rain on your roof. I didn’t even know it was possible for someone to be so breathtakingly beautiful.
If I didn’t care about what happened to her before, I sure as hell did now. Just looking at her made me happy, it was so beyond strange.
I knew I was being creepy about this and tried to convince myself that she was just a girl but my heart wouldn’t let me.
From the moment I walked into the room I felt more at ease, happier and I somehow knew that it was her. It was like she was radiating happiness, spreading it around her, affecting anyone lucky enough to be within distance of her.
“Wow…she’s beautiful.” I said.
They all turned to me and gave me strange looks. I wasn’t used to reacting to a girl like this, usually when I saw a hot girl all I could think about was getting in her pants, but I knew this wouldn’t be the case with her.
Niall stepping forward, and brushed back the loose strands of her golden blonde hair from her face. Then he pulled up a chair to sit next to her bed and he took her hand in his, laid his head down on the bed and began crying again.
“I’m so sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Niall whispered repeatedly.
Then Zayn walked around to the other side of her bed, and kissed her forehead, murmuring something to her that I couldn’t quite make out. But it looked as if he apologized to her too. Zayn took her other hand in his, squeezed and walked over to Kayla’s side, pulled up a chair beside her and held her little hand in both of his large ones.
“Niall, there’s nothing you could have done to prevent this, and you saved her life, don’t be sorry.” I said, walking up behind him and rubbing his back. This got me shocked looks from everyone in the room. I was shocked too, I was never the deep one, I always left it up to Liam to say stuff like that.
