We reached his front gate and I saw Elizabeth at the door with her arms crossed.

"What in the hell is going on Hayes?" she said.

As we made our way up to her her face softened when she saw my bare feet and my tear stained face.

"Hazel needs our help, Mom" I heard Hayes say.

Elizabeth opened the door wide, ushering us into the living room.
Elizabeth made me sit down on the couch, throwing blankets over me and shooed Hayes into the kitchen to make me a cup of tea.
My hands were numb and she started to rub them between her own.

She was so lovely, she reminded of my own mom who used to care for me in the way that she did.

I could feel my eyes filling again.

"Honey, tell me everything it's ok" she said smiling kindly at me.

I sat up crossing my legs, taking in deep breaths. I didn't know if I should, but it all came out.
I told her everything, about Dad.
I didn't know if she could change things, but I felt safe around her.

"Hazel" she said horrified covering her mouth with her hands.

I nodded looking down at my lap. I had showed her my phone, she read through the texts slowly.

"Can I see what he has done to you" she barely whispered, putting my phone into her pocket.

She told me she didn't want me getting any more texts from him.

I stood up slowly showing Elizabeth my back, chest and tummy.
My phone made a sound but she ignored it.
I felt vulnerable letting her see my colourful bruises and the fresh scrawls and scratches I had.

Her eyes widened with shock.
She looked like she was holding back tears.

Hayes came in with a tray of tea cups sitting next to me protectively.

"Honey, have you gotten onto your brother about this?"

Elizabeth was pacing the room, deep in thought.

Jack I thought. He hadn't called me back. I suddenly felt really sick and dizzy.

~

"Jack" I managed to whisper, my throat choking up.

"No, no Jack!"

Elizabeth and Hazel looked at each other and she slowly pulled my phone out of her pocket.
I looked at the screen. I could barely read it

'You leave me no option Hazel, now your brother has it bad'

Elizabeth clicked the phone shut taking deep breaths.

"Were going to help you and your brother Hazel, don't you worry"

I was crying now imaging what was happening to my brother.
Hayes pulled me tightly into him patting my head.

"I think Nash is supposed to be staying in Jacks tonight" Hayes said suddenly.

~

Elizabeth took out her own phone and dialled Nash's number.
We waited anxiously and he picked up after a few rings.

" Nash honey,where are you?"

We were so silent I could here Nash's voice coming from the phone.

"In the car with the guys were heading over to Jacks house"

"Nash I want you to come straight home, do you hear me? Do not go anywhere near that house"

Nash seemed to understand how serious Elizabeth was.
He didn't ask questions and hung up.

I prayed and prayed that my brother wasn't at home and that he was safe.

A million thoughts were going through my head, but I felt myself getting tired in Hayes arms.
His comforting voice like a lullaby in my ears.
