Jacks POV
I woke up really early. Looking outside I realised dad's car was still here and that he was upstairs sleeping.
I walked quietly upstairs and peeked my head around Hazels door.
She was fast asleep, snoring softly.
I was just relieved she had slept ok that night. No night terrors.
I always checked every morning to make sure she was there.
I sat down on the bed watching her.
She looked so peaceful in her sleep her eyelashes fluttering.
Her small fragile frame was curled up in a ball with the covers around her.
She still had her flower headband in her hair. I slowly took it off her head placing it on the table next to her bed.
I was worried what would happen when she woke up.
I've confronted dad about it before but he would brush me aside and do it anyway.
I was angry and ashamed of myself that I couldn't protect her when I wanted to.
To scared to face him when he was angry.
I hated myself for letting her get hurt.
Our dad used to be such a lovely guy but he changed.
Sometimes I see the guy he used to be, but it's soon replaced by the angry monster.
I love my sister more than anyone else, I used to pray that our mom would come back from Australia.
I saw her stirring and decided to leave her alone.
Soon she will be happy I thought
Things are gonna change
I kissed her softly on her forehead and left.

Hazels POV
I woke up, remembering everything last night.
My head throbbed with a headache.
I needed to get out and get some fresh air.
I checked my phone.
Hayes had followed me on twitter and changed his profile picture to a picture of the two of us laughing together the first night we met.
It was half eleven. I decided to get up and dress for the beach.
Right now all I wanted was to go surfing and escape the house before he woke up.
I prayed he wasn't awake already.
I threw on a white Hollister bikini and a pair of shorts with a loose top over it. Packed a towel into a small little backpack.
I ran downstairs hoping to see Jack and tell him where I was going.
There he was sitting at the kitchen table reading a newspaper he looked up when I came in.
I was immediately nervous.
He watched me with his dark eyes.
"Where are you off to then" he asked casually.
He stood up slowly.
My dad was a tall muscular man with dark sun tanned skin and tightly shaven brown hair.
I looked nothing like him.
Both me and Jack took after our Mom.
Small and blonde haired.
"The beach" I managed to say.
"On your own?" He sneered
"Surfing is for boys Hazel, I thought I told you this"
I flinched as he came over closer to me.
I was scared he would touch me, preparing myself for what he'd do.
I stood there looking at the floor.
Feeling so helpless.
"Well go then!" He yelling suddenly, hitting me against the face.
I whimpered not ready for the hit.
Jack ran in at the sound of shouting.
Dad spun around when he came in.
"What's happening?" Jack asked looking worried.
My dad stood infront of me blocking me from Jacks view.
I could feel my face burning from the impact of the hit.
"Hazels just going surfing" he said.
I edged towards the door, giving Jack a look telling him that I was ok.
Nothing big happened.
Jack didn't look convinced but he went back to the lounge and I left for the beach.
