Hayes POV
As soon as I came home Skylynn ran out smiling up at me.
My mom was standing at the door while Skylynn ran out to meet me.
"She missed you" my mom said ruffling my wet hair.
"I'm so sorry Sky, I'll play with you loads tonight" I said lifting her up into my arms.
"Hayes your all wet!" She squealed.
I spun her around the hallway and put her up around my shoulders.
Nash had texted me saying to meet Taylor at one of the basketball courts and the rest of the guys will follow us down.
Skylynn demanded I brought her into the living room. I put on her favourite DVD, Frozen of course, and wrapped a blanket around her.
"Are you going Hayes?"
I felt really bad for leaving her.
"Yeah but I'll be back" I promised holding up my pinky finger so she could wrap her own around it.
I kissed her cheek and left the room to go up and get changed.
My hair was all over the place, curling up a bit from the sea water.
I had a quick shower and changed into some shorts and a tank top.
It was nearly four so I texted Taylor telling him I'd be there in ten minutes with a ball.
~
I went down to the court bouncing my ball. There was no sign of the other guys so I sat down in the corner of the top court.
There were people using the very bottom court.
There were about to leave but then I saw the ball rolling down towards our court, I ran over to pick it up for them.
As I stood up with the balls in my hands,
I realised who the owner was.
" Fancy seeing you here" his voice was emotionless and cold.
I threw him the ball gently before turning away.
I couldn't start something, the guys would be here any minute and there was no way they could find out.
I could hear him running after me.
"No Hazel? Has she gotten sick of you yet? I mean Hazel does tend to move from one boy to another very quickl-"
I didn't care what he had to say about her. But even so I felt he knew more then me, that everyone he said about me was true.
I turned around angrily.
"Just shut up alright Dylan"
I was standing closer to him then I realised.
My heart was beating really fast.
" Useless piece of shit"
he spat at me and kicked me in the balls then ran off to his friends.
I collapsed onto to the floor in pain.
I wanted to run after him and beat the crap out of him more than anything.
But I couldn't, he was good friends with Hazel. I didn't want her to see me as someone who starts fights.
"Hey, Hayes!"
It was Taylor running up towards me in a red beanie hat.
He gave me a hand and helped me up.
"Did something happen there?" he said looking over at Dylan and the other boys as they left.
"Oh no, they're just friends from school!"
I wish.
Taylor frowned but dropped it, picked up my ball and started dribbling down the court, throwing passes to each other.
My brother and the rest of them arrived and we split into teams and started playing.
I sat out for a while with Matt, he was really cool.
I liked all these guys.
Nash and Cameron had made friends with them so quickly and I was really happy to hang around with them.
Nash didn't seem to mind when I did.
Jack said we could all come back to his afterwards and get pizzas on the way. I remembered to get pepperoni for Hazel.
If only I could get along with all of Hazels friends, everyone loved her. I could see why they did, she was amazing. She was so popular.
Why did she even want me as a friend?
They were right.
I was worthless, pathetic, no one liked me.
Those words would always stick like glue.
