I felt like the beach was a special place to Hayes.
He loved it just as much as I did, if not more.
After our sleepover we left early before the other boys were awake and went down to the beach.
I talked to Hayes about everything, I felt I had nothing to hold back anymore.
Knowing that we were being completely honest about everything felt great.
My mom was coming into town that evening and I couldn't wait.
I hadn't spoken to her on the phone, I wanted to hear her voice in person and to see her smile.
Elizabeth was going to come over tonight, she was pretty excited to meet her too.
"We better leave, the tides coming in pretty fast"
Hayes said taking my hand and pulling me up out of our little cave.
We had there for a while, just talking.
He had been constantly staring at me, and when I noticed he'd look away quickly his cheeks blushing.
We started swimming out instead of climbing the rocks.
It was too hard to walk over they were sharp and jagged.
The water was crystal clear and we swam easily.

Hayes POV
I found myself staring over at her, I couldn't help it.
When her shining brown eyes met mine I felt my heart skip a beat.
I don't think she noticed but Id look away embarrassed.
Did she remember last night?
I didn't think so.
We finally reached the shore, it was much shorter swimming out there earlier, the tide was coming in and the sea had gotten rougher.
The waves were nearly pulling Hazel under.
"Wanna get a milkshake or something?"
I asked her, she nodded shivering in her beach towel.
She looked really cute.
We walked up to the beach cafe our bags slung over our backs.
Hazel convinced me to get a chocolate milkshake apparently they were the nicest.
I ordered two and we sat down in a corner seat sipping our milkshakes.
Her hair was messy from the sea water, drying in loose blonde waves.
I imagined what my own hair looked like and started fixing it straight away.
"Stop, it's fine" Hazel said grinning ruffling up my hair.
She was so happy, telling me about her mom and how excited she was.
"I can't wait till she meets you, she's gonna love you"
"I doubt it" I said shrugging.
"Hayes, out of all my friends you've probably been the best, you've always been there for me, trust me she's gonna love you" she told me.
I looked up sheepishly at her, she nodded at me as if she was confirming everything she said she meant.
Right at that moment, looking at her blonde messy hair and bright smile I wanted to tell her so badly.
That's it I thought I'm gonna say it.
Say how I felt about her. I could feel the words forming in my head, I was going to tell her.
I was on the verge of saying it.
"What Hayes? Go on say it"
But I never got the chance to.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw them walk into the cafe.
His tall frame followed by a few others.
I saw him, and he saw us.
Please not now I thought please not now.
