Then I remembered.

"Over past those rocks" I croaked.

"The boat, bring it over there"

Cameron looked up at me with bloodshot eyes.

"Mom please now" I said impatiently.

She put a hand on my shoulder.

"It's too dangerous Hazel, we can't"

"I have to!" I yelled.

"Hazel I said no!"

I looked away in frustration, I wanted to see the cave, it's where Hayes and I had been happy together.

It was his favourite place and I wanted to justify his death.

Wait I thought. The cave.

"We need to go over there now!"

I stood up suddenly, struggling to stand upright in the blustery wind.

Cameron held onto me.

"Hazel we can't get over there it's too strong" Jack yelled.

I had no choice, I had to do it.

I jumped off the boat, plunging myself into the icy ocean, my body paralysed from the intense cold.

I resurfaced, I couldn't hear the yells and screams coming from the boat.

My mind was focused on one thing and I swam against the powerful waves, every muscle in my body aching as I fought the vicious current.

I struggled to pull myself up the rocks.

They were sharp, jagged and slimy.

Each time I heaved my body up it I slammed up against the rocks my body searing with pain and I moaned in agony.

I clung to them desperately my entire body numbed by the icy water.

My hands were bleeding, cut and scratched from trying to pull myself up.

It was hopeless.

I could still hear Jacks voice in the distance shouting my name.

But I ignored him, I was doing this for Hayes, it was the least I could do for him.

One final pull and I heaved myself onto the rocks, gasping in the pain.

I flinched away from the spikes catching my leg on the edge.

I bit my tongue watching the blood ooze from my calf.

It didn't matter, I was fine.

I crawled slowly across the rocks every movement was like a piercing needle through my skin.

I felt myself slipping on the seaweed and I fell into the water, tumbling off the side.

I landed painfully on my side my body assaulted by the cold impact of the sea.

I surfaced gasping for air.

I could see the foot of the cave, just metres away from me. I was nearly there, I could make it.

You can do it. For Hayes.

I took a deep breath and dived, engulfing myself in the monstrous waves. For a while I didn't think I was going to get out, that I would be trapped under the waves.

Moments later I shot out of the water swimming viciously against the waves that attacked me.

I found myself at the foot of the cave, collapsing onto the sand.

I caught my breath, and slowly raised my head looking around me.

I let out a cry. I thought I was hallucinating.

His body was curled up against the back of the cave his pale ghostly skin glowed against the dark sinister walls of the caves.

"HAYES!" I screamed.

He didn't answer.

I was scared, scared that he wasn't alive.

"HAYES PLEASE" I began sobbing hysterically.

Then he turned his head and looked at me.
