Two hours later I was sitting on the couch with Hayes and Skylynn watching Netflix.
Skylynn was falling asleep, her head propped up on my left leg. She was so adorable.
"I told you my mom would love you" I said smirking over at Hayes.
Elizabeth and my mom were drinking tea in the kitchen and had been talking non stop for the last hour.
"That was surprising, I'm not a likeable person"
He stretched out resting his head on my other leg, yawning with his mouth open wide.
I nudged the side of his head.
"Your a very likeable person! What's not to like?" I said.
"His hair it's not likeable to me at all" Skylynn said sleepily reaching over and patting his head.
"His hair is awful isn't it ?" I said winking at Hayes.
She nodded curling into my side and closing her eyes.
Hayes pretended to look hurt, I just laughed at the two of them on my legs.
I stroked Hayes's hair, rubbing his head while we watched the movie.
Nash, Cameron and the Jacks walked in sitting down on the sofas.
"Your watching a movie without us?!" Jack and Jack both said looking at me with disbelief.
"Shh!" I pointed at Skylynn and they grew silent.
Nash came over picking her up gently and cradling her in his arms.
She woke up wiping her eyes with her little hands.
"Sky wanna go home?" he asked her.
She nodded nuzzling her head into his neck.
Elizabeth came in followed closely by my mom.
"Ye boys all ready?" Elizabeth asked with her South Carolina accent.
Hayes and Nash said goodbye and the Griers left, my mom thanking them for everything they had done.
Mom sat down on the couch beside me and I cuddled into her soft jumper.
"He seems like a lovely boy" she told me kissing my forehead.
I assumed she was talking about Hayes.
"You know I am ok with you having a boyfriend? You can tell me if you want"
"Mom no! Were just friends!"
I had to tell so many people this, me and Hayes were just best friends.
She nodded understandingly.
Jack and Jack squashed up on the sofa with us and flicked on a movie.
Peter Pan of course, their favourite.
Mom seemed to remember this and she smiled as the movie started.

Everything seemed too good to be true, everything was perfect.
I lay there beside my mom, I cherished moments like this when you felt like you couldn't be happier.
It was the same feeling that I got whenever I was with Hayes or when I was down at the beach surfing and the waves were perfect.
After a while the two Jacks had fallen fast asleep snoring heavily.
We put blankets around them and moved them so they were cuddling into each other.
We crept upstairs, carrying moms suitcases.
I collapsed into bed, exhausted.
Just before I nodded off to sleep Mom came in wearing her dressing gown and sat down on the bed beside me.
She tucked me in like she used always do when I was small back in our old house.
"I love you Hazel" she whispered softly her eyes glistening in the lamp light.
" I love you too mom"
She kissed my cheek and said goodnight before turning off my lamp and leaving the room.
I lay there for a while in the darkness, smiling up at that ceiling.
I closed my eyes, my body curling into a ball.
Things couldn't get better than this I thought
