I came to his place
Am i being stupid?
I text my best friend sitting on Calum's front steps. I mean, I hope this is Calum's house. I followed the directions he gave me and ended up in front of a beautiful cream coloured house. I hope it's the right house. Or maybe it's a good thing if it ends up being the wrong one. A sign. A sign that I shouldn't be here. That I should've gone home. I can't trust myself alone with him. I can't think straight seeing his handsome face. Sometimes I can't think at all. I forget about everything that should keep me away from him. I can only think about how much I enjoy being around him. How he always remembers the things I say and how he gives me his full attention when I'm speaking. A black sport car pulls into the garage interrupting my thoughts. Calum gets out of the car proving me this is the right house.
"You could've ridden with me" He says while approaching me
"And let everyone know we left together? No thanks"
He offers his hand to help me stand up and I accept it.
"What?" He asks with a teasing smile "You're ashamed to be seen with me now?"
"Just avoiding unnecessary drama"
Calum double checks if he locked the car before leading the way to his large wooden front door. I make sure I enter his house stepping with my right foot first just in case. I follow him through the also cream colored corridor. The first door on our right is a coat closet and the second one is a lavatory. Further into the left is the wooden but modern kitchen. Wide and with lots of windows. A marble counter segregates the kitchen area to the dining room. Before we get to the living room there is a staircase on our right.
"I feel bad for not buying you a "new place" gift" I say when we get to the living room
"I feel bad for not receiving any" He says "It almost looks like you like Michael more than me"
"Maybe I do" I shrug my shoulders at him "Maybe Michael is my favorite"
The back wall in his living room was replaced with a glass sliding door that leads to his backyard. I can't see much because it's dark outside.
"You can't say that after you slept with me" He pretends to be offended
"Maybe that's exactly why Im saying it" I joke and Calum gives me the sexiest 'you did not just say that' look
"If it helps you sleep at night" I add "I like your place better"
It is true. Calum's house embraces you. It's cozier than Michael's. Mike's place is neat and well decorated but looks like it was taken out of a magazine. You walk around afraid of breaking something or making a mess. Calum's house invites you in.
"Yeah, wow. That's exactly what I wanted to hear"
Did I say I love his ironic tone already? I leave my purse on the gray couch beside me and see the cushions matching the rug.
"You're not telling me you decorated it by yourself"
Calum laughs shaking his head and sitting across from me on the couch.
"Mom helped" He admits
"Mama's boy. How cute" I tease "Doesn't she leave in Australia?"
"Yeah. We found this website where I just order everything and they have it delivered here. She helped me choosing some things"
I hold back the urge to squeeze his cheeks for being overly cute. Who knew Calum was such a Mama's boy? I get up and walk to the fireplace where there are a few portraits. I look at one photo that Calum wears matching Christmas sweaters with what looks to be his family. Calum looks so much like his mother.
