"Bria and Rayan, for Christ's sake, come on! You two are running late!" Our dad yelled. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs.

"Well maybe we wouldn't be running late if you two hadn't kept us up all night with your yelling" Ray stated as he followed me down the stairs.

"Watch your mouth".

"I have to watch my mouth for saying something that's true?" Ray asked curiously.

"Yes".

"Hm".

"Bria, did you finish your homework?" My mom asked, I nodded.

"Good" she replied.

"Ray, did you finish your homework?" Ray asked, "Oh, yeah, mom, I did. Thanks for asking".

"I was getting to you, if you had just given me a minute".

Ray rolled his eyes, "yeah, right".

"Watch the attitude, Rayan" my dad warned.

We gotta get going. I wrote quickly.

I grabbed Ray's hand and pulled him out of the house.

Why do you do that?

"Do what?"

Test dad and be rude to mom.

"I wasn't doing it on purpose, I'm just irritated with the both of them".

I can understand why, but don't forget that they can still ground your ass.

"Yeah, yeah, I know".

I looked at him.

I'm serious.

"And so am I".

I quickly scurried into the library, due to the fact that I was late. I stopped when I saw that Chresanto wasn't at our usual table. Maybe he's outside?

I turned around and walked out of the library and down the hall. I left out of a side door and walked onto the quad and saw Chresanto sitting under a tree. He was smoking.

I walked over to him and he looked up at me and squinted his eyes. "Hey".

Hi.

"You're late".

Yeah.

I sat down and watched as he took the cigarette from his lips and blew out smoke.

You're smoking.

"Yeah".

How come?

"'Cause it feels good".

No other reason?

He shook his head a little, "nope".

I collected my hair into a ponytail holder and I made a messy bun. Chresanto looked at me.

"You look cute".

Thanks.

"You're welcome".

I pulled out a book I was currently reading and I opened it to the page that I left off.

"I wish you could read to me right now" Chresanto stated.

I looked at him and saw he was watching me, he sighed lightly and I watched him lay down on the grass. I closed my book.
