Chapter 20

Mare POV

Cal just stares at me still on top of me, a good minute has passed since the words came out of my mouth "Cal?" I ask genuinely worried about his well being now "what?" He asks and I repeat it again "I'm pregnant" I say and he just looks at me and swallows hard. "Oh" he says and gets off of me, he stands up and walks towards the living room, I get up and follow him "well congrats" he says and starts to leave "you're fucking kidding me" I say and he turns to look at me "Thats it, thats all you're going to say" I continue and he fully turns to face me "well what did you want me to say " he says "I don't know, but I didn't want you to congratulate me and leave, if that was the case I would congratulate you as well" I says and he looks at me confused "why would you congratulate me?" He asks and then it clicks, he doesn't realize its his. "Oh, My, God. You really think I would tell you something like this when we're kissing on my bed if it had nothing to do with you. Cal I'm 7 weeks pregnant, do the math." I say and his eyes go wide "wait, its, its mine" he says quietly and I straighten myself "yes" I say and my eyes start to well up. Cal starts to walk towards me and I fear what he'll do next, but he just hugs me "I'm sorry" he whispers and we just stay there for a while. I pull away and wipe my eyes "you ok?" He asks and I look at him and silently saying with them 'seriously' and he just laughs and says "right, right" he says. I grab his hand and drag him to the bedroom, I push him onto the bed and then I walk around and cuddle next to him "so that's why you threw up when I hugged you too tight, and why you didn't have anything alcoholic to drink" he asks and I nod my head "wait but you left 4 weeks ago" he says "your point?" I ask "well you said you were 7 weeks?" He continues and I laugh "they start counting the first day of my last period and it's actually it's 7 weeks and 5 days" I say and he shifts I little "And who is they?" He asks "the doctor" I say back "oh which reminds me..." I remember and get up from the bed to get the ultrasound picture "whats wrong?" He asks when I get back I jump onto the bed and into his lap and hand hime the picture "what's thi..." he starts but stops when he realizes what it is. He stares at it and then a big smile comes across his face, before I can react Cal picks me up and kisses me hard on the lips. We separate "I love you" he says "I love you too" I say back suddenly crying, he pulls me away and looks confused "hey what's wrong?" He asks and I try to say something but I just start crying harder. He sets me down and rubs my head letting me calm down, when I get my composer back I am finally able to ask "you're not scared" he pulls me away to look at me eye to eye "Of course I am, but right now I'm just happy that... never mind its stupid" he says "no it's fine you can say it" I say and he looks at me with sad eyes "I'll have a family again." And his eyes start to water and fall down his face, I wipe them away "hey that's not stupid" I say and he looks at me joy fills his eyes and he touches my stomach, I put my hands on his. I've never been this happy before.

Cal POV

Mare and I fall asleep but I woke up after an hour and decide to get up and get some water, as I'm getting a cup from the kitchen, someone knocks on the door. I go and answer it, when I open the door its Evangeline "oh hey Cal" she says and I motion for her to come in "hey, whats up. But keep in mind Mare's sleeping in the other room" I say and she nods, its silent for a while and I think its because Evangeline thinks don't know "Eve I know" I say and she lets out a breath "oh thank god!" She says and gives me a hug "I don't know weather to congratulate you or not" she says and I laugh "you can if you want just don't want to say that to her" I say and now its her turn to laugh "so how did you react" she says and I rub the back of my head "well, I didn't know it was mine at first" I say and she looks at me like I'm stupid "you're fucking kidding me" she say and we both laugh "once I put it all together I hugged her and we chilled in bed for a while just talking"  I say and she smiles "well you handled it better then she did" she says and I look at her confused "how did she react?" I ask and she laughs "well she didn't find out on her own, Farley had to tell her a week ago when Sara called and told her" she says "wait Sara knew?" I say and Eve laughs "she knew the day after you guys you know.." She says and I open my mouth in shock all of a sudden I hear shifting coming from Mares room and she comes out "Hey Cal where'd you... oh hey Evangeline" she says wiping hey eyes "hey sleepy head hows it going?" Eve says and I laugh, Mare walks over to me and leans on me, I put my arm around her and kiss her head. Eve rolls her eyes "Alright well I'll leave you two parents to be alone" those words send a shiver down my spine but it also warms my heart, it's a weird feeling. Mare on the other hand gets totally freaked out and her eyes go wide. But before she leaves she turns and says "oh and Elane has to go back to Montfort, Carmadon had an emergency " she says. When Eve leaves I turn to look at Mare who still looks a little freaked. I walk over to her and grab both her arms and rub them "you ok?" I ask and she nods her head "ya I'm fine its just.. well that kinda hit me hard" she says and I smile "you don't have to worry I'm here and I'm not leaving"I say and I can tell she's holding back tears "stupid hormones" she says and rubs her eyes.

We ended up going back to bed and sleep until morning, I wake up before her again and decide I'm going to make breakfast. I decide to make bacon and eggs but when I start frying the eggs Mare wakes up and walk out holding her nose "what the fuck are you making" she asks "eggs" I say and she covers her mouth and runs to the bathroom to trow up. I run after her "Are you ok?" I ask "Get those fucking eggs out of here" she says and trows up more "and open up the windows" she continues. I do as she says and after a while she come out of the bathroom "Sorry I didn't..." I start but she hold up her hand singling me to stop "its not your fault I didn't even know I hated eggs" she says and I walk over to her, she leans on the counter sitting at the breakfast bar. I rub her back and she leans into it. While I'm messaging her back someone knocks at the door I walk to go get it "ughguhgug don't stop that felt good" she says face planting into the counter and I laugh I open the door and it's Kilorn "hey Mare have you seen Ca... oh hey Cal" he sys and I laugh "hey dude what's up?" I ask letting him in. He sees Mare face first on the counter "you ok?" He asks and she puts a thumbs up "CAL?" She says and i laugh. I walk over and start messaging her back "so what was it you wanted to talk about?" I ask and Kilorn comes out of his trance "oh um..." he hesitates and I answer his question "yes I know" I say and he lets out a breath "oh... ok" he says and walk over to hug me, when we do Mare grunts and gets up "If you two love birds will excuse me I'm going to take a shower" she says and Kilorn and I look at each other and give a light chuckle "anyways, what I wanted to tell you is Premier Ginervra wants to talk to you" he says and my stomach drops "about what?" I ask and he just shrugs "I don't know man, she just told me to tell you. Anyways I gotta get back Cam's probably wondering where I am." He says. When he walked by he puts his hand on my shoulder and says "congrats dude, you're going to be a father." And leaves. My body is full of guilt and dread, Mare is pregnant with my baby, and the woman I had a one night stand with while i was back together with Mare wants to talk to me. I'm so conflicted I don't think I feel anything anymore.
