Chapter 24

Mare POV

What on earth is Elane doing here, I'm not in the mood to talk but I can see she's quite upset. I look at my mother and she seams a little sad "what's going on" Trammy asks "why did you make her go with him?" Elane says trying to hold back tears. I look at her with pained eyes "I didn't even know she had left until an hour later when Kilorn told me. I never asked her" I say and I feel a small contraction. It's not as bad as the others ones or maybe in gotten used to it and it's not a surprise when it comes. I put my hand on my stomach and try to act as if I'm not in a small amount of pain "then why did she go?" She says and a tear falls from her face. I go and sit down next to her "the premier asked her to go to make sure Cal was safe for me." I say "then who's going to keep Eve safe for me." She says and I smile "Cal of course, look I never would have asked her to go because he would always try and keep her safe even if it meant risking himself." I say "so she went for nothing." My mother says "no because shes going to tell him to live under any circumstances" Elane reply's. it's true though she will and he'll listen this time because of me, and our baby. "It's just a rescue mission Cal does them all the time, so Eve is in no big danger" I say and she goes at ease a little "I'm going to kill her when she gets back" she says and I laugh "and I'm going to kill Cal for letting her go" I say and she smiles "well I should go" she says and goes to the door and I follow her. We hug and say goodbye and I reassure her that Eve will be fine. When I close the door and let out a breath "I'm going to bed I'll tell you all in the morning." I say and walk up to my room. I take off my cloths because they feel sooo tight on me now, and crawl into bed I pass out immediately.

Cal POV

Evangeline opens the door and sits in the transport. "What are you doing here?" I ask and she looks at me "I'm coming with you" she says and I laugh "no you're not" I say and then she pulls out her phone and shows a message from the Premier I take it and read it;

Cal,

I'm having Evangeline Samos go with you on your mission to keep you safe for Mare, I know you won't like this but all the decisions you make must go through Miss Samos. And there may be no objections.

Premier Ginervra

I sigh and hand her back her phone "well that's interesting" I say and she laughs "have you told Elane" I ask and she sighs "well I know when I do she'll be pissed knowing her fiancé is risking her life." She says "wait her fiancé, are you two engaged?" I ask and she laughs "I take it Mare didn't tell you." She says and I smile "no she didn't, congratulation though it must be exciting" I say and she smiles "it is, but Elane is overwhelming me with the planing." She says and I laugh "are you and Mare getting married?" She asks "no no she would never want to do that so soon." I say and she gives me a sad smile "well do you want to get married" she says and I give a sad laugh "not if she doesn't want to." I say and she smiles "good response Calor" she says and the transport starts moving. We get to the airport and they're going to fly us straight to the base outside Corvium. We get out and go straight to a briefing. Afterwards we leave for the base. And we will no longer have contact with Norta or Montfort.

Mare POV

It's been over 2 weeks since I last saw Cal and since he left for the rescue mission. They got an update on his position about 4 days ago saying that they were close to the base and that there were no casualties on our side. Since then my bump has gotten a lot bigger I can't even wear my training cloths anymore because they're  so uncomfortable. I'm reading a lot about pregnancy and it's kinda terrifying. Right now the baby is the size of a strawberry, well supposed to be but I feel like it's bigger then that. Farley tells me that it's not the baby it's my uterus getting bigger but before she could continue I stopped her. I decided to take Trammys advice and train the soldiers, when I went to the doctor to do a bunch of genetic testing, I talked to Holly about being able to train them and she just told me no hand to hand combat which was a given. It's really helped me with my body image issues, the soldiers I train always look at me with drooling mouths, which I don't like. I usually wear a sports bra and legging when I'm teaching them hand to hand combat with abilities and because my breasts have gotten bigger they can't keep their eyes off me. It's the most comfortable thing I can wear right now, Cal would hate it though. But the girls usually help me by kicking their asses when they get distracted. While I'm training them Kilorn and Gisa come over and start to watch. Kilorns taking me and Gisa shopping for cloths for me, he tried to object but I forced him because he'll tell me the truth about what I'm buying. When I see them I wave "alright guys training is done for today. Dismissed" I say and they all walk away talking to each other. I walk towards them and they smile at me "why do you wear that, they just stare at you" Kilorn says "I've told you once and I'll tell you again, it's comfortable" I say. We go shopping for what feels like an hour and I try on over a million different clothes. Gisa drags Kilorn and I into another store and starts picking things out. Kilorn and I just follow slightly behind her "so any word on where the mission is" Kilorn asks and I shake my head "no"I say sadly "I'm starting to get worried, he told me it would take a week but it's about to be three" I say "don't worry, Evangeline is there to keep him safe and with you being pregnant he won't take as many risks" he says and that makes me feel better. When Kilorn starts to complain we give him some food and that makes him feel better. The ride home is pretty fun we listen to music and sing along. we get to my house after about 30 minutes but I notice something different there's a car parked in front of the house "who's car is that?" Gisa asks and Kilorn and I shrug. When we get inside I see a familiar figure standing in the living room I drop the bags that are in my hands and immediately cover my mouth with my hands in shock. "Cal?" I say and he turns to look at me "hey" he says and I run to him and jump into his arms I wrap my legs around his waist and kiss him hard on the lips "I was getting so worried you told me it would take a week and it's been 3 and I was so worried something happened to you." I say rushing the words right out with tears falling down my face. Cal puts me down and strokes my hair "shhhh it's ok I'm fine everything went well, we just decide to take the whole base back instead of just doing a rescue mission." He says and I burry myself into his chest.

Cal POV

She nuzzles herself into my chest and it make me feel so warm, I look at Trammy who just entered the house and he looks like he doesn't know if he should be happy or mad "you dad already talked to me so don't worry." I say "your brother too." And he laughs "well then it's nice to have you back." He says and I nod in response"well I'll leave you two catch up." He says and leave us alone "welcome back" Kilorn says am I nod "see you later Mare" he says and leaves "well I'm going to put all this stuff in your room Mare, it's good to see you again Cal" Gisa says "it's nice to see you too" I say, she leaves up stares grabbing all the bags "here let's sit on the couch ok." I say we make our way to the couch and she snuggles into me "why are you being so cuddly?" I ask "you're warm." She says and I raise the temperature in the room a couple degrees. She smiles "so how are you two doing?" I ask and she smiles "better in some areas but worse in others" she says. I look down to see her belly but she's wearing loose cloths so you can't see. "What's gotten better?" I ask "well I've been working out and it helps me know that I'm gaining the weight for the baby" she says and I smile "and wats gotten worse" I ask and she sighs "well I don't fit into any of my cloths comfortably. If I try to wear a stretchy shirt that's tight to my body I feel like I'm wearing a corset, and morning sickness has started to go away but still there, and..." she says and lifts up her shirt "woah, what are those" I say and she laughs "they're blood vessels so that the baby can get more blood, I'm a lot smaller than most women when they get pregnant so that's why you can see them." She says and I start to touch her growing belly. My hands are warm, but she pushes them away. "Not too hot dude" she says and then I realize that it could harm the baby "oh sorry" I say. We sit there for a while just enjoying the peace and quiet "so I found a few apartments and some houses that could work for us" Mare says and I smile thinking about having a place to raise a family. "I would prefer a house, so that there's a lot of room for our kid to run around and have fun." I say and she smiles at that "I do too." She says "there was one that had a forest in the back, I really liked that one, it's got 5 bedrooms, a huge kitchen, an awesome basement with a theatre, it's perfect." She says "what do we need 5 bedrooms for?" I ask "one for us one for the baby an office for me and you, and a guest room." She says but that's not what I was thinking. I was thinking about the future if we have more kids. I don't say anything yet, I don't want to freak her out. "Sounds perfect." I say "ok why don't we go visit it tomorrow?" She says and I kiss her head "sounds like a plan."
