Mare POV

6 years later (Mare:26, Cal: 28, Gisa:23, Bree:30, Trammy: 29, Kilorn: 26, Eve:27, Cam: 23)

"What was that!" I yell at one of my soldiers "you don't have the advantage so what made you think you could pin her to the ground without her teleporting behind you!" I yell "um... m'am?" The soldier says pointing behind me, I turn around and see four small humans running at me. A smile gets plastered on my face when I see my kids running towards me "Happy birthday Mommy!!!" They all yell at different times, it looks like Cori gets angry at the rest. Probably because they had rehearsed it so that it was all at one time. i bend down and my twins Tyler and Tori come crashing into my arms they're only three but they are fast, then Mathew comes and jumps on my back, he's not heavy but he is five. And since there's no room left, Cori stands in front waiting for her turn to give me a hug, then the weight on my back get removed "what did I tell you about jumping on your mother" A voice I could never mistake says. Cal holds Mat in his arms and grabs Tyler and Tori's hands "come on give your sister a chance to say hello" he says and they go to his legs Cori comes forward and gives me a hug whispering in my ear "Happy Birthday" I smile and then I realize that all my soldiers are watching us have a very private moment. Cal sees my expression and turns to my soldiers, he whispers into Mat's ears and he giggles and nods, the then takes a big breath and yells "dismissed untiw tomowaoh" he says and I laugh standing back up holding Cori's hand. Mat is exactly like his father, well all except for the eyes and the blood. Cori on the other hand is exactly like me, same blood, same hair, and same stubbornness. And now I know why Cal hates it. Then there's the twins that I love so much they're silver like Cal. "so did you talk to Farley about taking today off?" I ask wondering if I'm allowed to leave early "Yes and she said it was ok" he says "well alright then, whats next?" I ask. We walk to the car, Cori holding Tyler's hand and Mat holding Tori's hand "they're so cute" I say to Cal and he smiles and puts his ar around me "you did a great job" he says "we did a great job" I correct him and he laughs. We get in the car and start to leave when I realize "whats happening and where are we going?" I ask "well we are going home to have lunch that was made by the best 4 chefs in the world" Cal starts and the kids start to giggle. I can only assume its because they made it "then you are going to open presents that everyone made" he continues "presents for me?" I say jokingly "we didn't forget" Mat states and I laugh "then we head to your parents and have a huge family dinner" he finishes and it all sounds really nice "why are you doing all this? We never do things like this?" I say and Cal smiles "I know you're leaving next week" he whispers and I put my head down "and I know you don't have the courage to tell the kids after last time" he says and he's right. Last time I left things didn't go as planned, and I was gone for a month instead of a week. The kids were terrified the something really bad happened but it was just an issue with how secure the castle was. We've discovered other silver run countries and we've been taking down over the years, but things are getting complicated now. We Heard a rumeur that maven was spotted in the Lakeland's, when I was told I almost had a panic attack. Cal calmed me but I was also angry at him, he told me he was dead so why was he spotted in the lakelands? Apparently his body went missing between the trip from the castle to the graveyard. Cal and I were both angry because we were never told but neither was former premier Davidson, so we figured it was a planned kidnapping. But why wait more than 6 years to suddenly appear? As I'm thinking the car stops and we're home "kids go inside and get everything set up before mom goes in." Cal says and they all run inside. Cal and I sit in silence for a while before he starts "I don't like the idea of using you as bait for this mission, too many things could go wrong." He says and I take in a deep breath "I know but I need to know if he really is still alive. And if so save him if I can" when I say those words his eyes go wide "save him" he says softly "I know that's what you want Cal. It's why you resented me right after the war, and I don't know If i can go through that again with you." I say and he puts his head down "he can't be saved, Mare I accepted that a long time ago, there are no new blood whispers to help him." He says, we still have not seen any new blood whispers but that might be for the best. "So you want me to kill him when I see him" I ask quietly "yes" he says sheepishly "not just because he's not my brother anymore but to keep our kids safe. We don't know what he has planned and I don't want our kids getting mixed up in it all" he says so seriously I feel like I'm being scolded like a child "ok, I'll kill him on sight" I say and we get out of the car. When I get inside, I'm amazed by how beautiful the house is. There are fairy lights everywhere, and homemade lanterns hung everywhere "surprise!!!!" The twins say putting their hands in the air "did you two decorate the house?" I ask walking over to give them a hug "dad helped" tori says and I smile "well I'm blown away, you guys did an amazing job" I say and hug them both. When the hugs are done they run to the kitchen and I follow. When I get there I'm amazed by the spread of food that's been set up on the island, there's mini sandwiches, vegetable and fruit platters, pigs in a blanket, and four different juices. Cori and Mat stand on chairs to reach the counter and when they see me their eyes light up "happy birthday!!!" They yell and my cheeks start to hurt from smiling "oh my god, you guys made all this, it's amazing" I say and hug them "dad helped" Mat says and I laugh "well since I know your father's a bad cook I doubt he helped much" I say and they all start laughing, whith Cal exaggerating how offended he is "well I'm very hungry so let's start eating." I say through the laughs. We each make a plate and go to the dining room and start to eat and have fun talking and joking around.
