Chapter 29

Mare POV

"Holy shit" I say stretching my back out. I'm now in my 19 week of pregnancy and I'm swore all over. My back hurts, my hips hurt, my feet hurt and are swelling, my legs are in pain, and my pregnant belly is hurting because the baby is growing so much "you know the baby can hear you right?" Cal says, I give him a death glare "you want to do this be my guest" I say. We're starting to get the baby's room ready and right now we're painting the walls. I'm just painting one wall black while Cal is doing these cool designs in black on the other white walls. He puts down his brush and walls up behind me and starts to message my lower back. I love it when he does that, he's really good at giving me messages and I don't even have to ask. It's like he knows when I need one "I would if I could" he says and I know he wishes he could do more to help, I turn around once his message relieves some of the pain and put my arms around his neck, I used to be able to get closer to him but now because of the bump my stomach is right up against him "I love you so much you know that?" I say and kiss him on the lips, he kisses back and all of a sudden I feel something weird, Cal and I both stop and look at each other "did you feel that?" I ask "I did" he says and then it happens again Cal and I move fast and put our hands on my bump and wait. After a few seconds it happens again and I smile so big it hurts my cheeks. Cal looks up at me and hugs me lifting me off the ground and spinning me "woah Cal" I say getting dizzy. He puts me down "oh sorry" he says, once I get my composure I grab Cal's face and kiss him "thank you" I say and he looks confused "for what?" He asks "for getting me pregnant, it may not be the most pleasant at times but I can't wait to meet her" I say and he smiles "him" he says and I get closer, our lips almost touching "shut up"I say smiling and kiss him. We finish painting the room and end up going to our room and having a really good time.

Mare POV (21 weeks)

My mom and sister are over right now helping me organize the baby's room, we talk about whether or not I will be having a baby shower "Gisa I just don't think I need to have one, and you know I hate being the centre of attention" I say "but come on it's just a few hours and you get free presents" she says "Gisa if she doesn't want to have one, we aren't going to force her" my mother says "thank you" I say looking a Gisa. She just stares back at me, but then all of a sudden Gisa's eyes go wide "um Mare, you um... you got" She says and gestures to my breasts "come on again" I say and run to the bathroom. The past week my breasts have been leaking and I hate it, i have to go put on these pads in my bra and change my shirt. I get back and continue to work "um what was that?" Gisa asks "because my breasts have made so much milk they leak" I say and my mother laughs "that was one of my least favourite things when I was pregnant with you guys" my mother says "oh and I ment to ask you are you going to find out the gender of the baby?" Gisa excitedly asks "we actually don't want to know the gender" I say "what!?!? Why?!?!" Gisa yells and it scares me "Jeez, you don't have to over react" I say "I'm sorry but doesn't it bother you that your doctor knows and you don't" she says "no not really besides Cal and I have a bet" I say and my mother looks at me with a tilted head "you have a bet on your child" she says "well ya, he thinks it's a boy, I think it's a girl. So whoever's right gets to name the baby" I say and my mother lightens up a little "well what have you thought of?" She asks "well I'm one hundred percent sure on this name and you can't make me change my mind" I say and they both raise their eyebrows "what is it?" Gisa asks and I smile "Corian" I say and my mother smiles "Cal will love that name" she says "wait am I not getting something here" Gisa says and I forgot that she doesn't know "it was Cal's mother's name" I say and she smiles "oh well at least it's a great name, unlike Tiberias. God I hope he does chose that for his" Gisa says and I laugh "don't worry I made him promise not to" I say.

Cal POV

I'm out with Kilorn, Trammy and Evangeline at lunch while Mare, Gisa and their mother organize the baby's room "so how's mare doing?" Eve asks "she's... good I think, it honestly depends on the day." I say and Kilorn laughs "well I'll certainly say so, I saw her training the other soldiers the other day and she was screaming bloody murder at them and then the next day she was being the nicest person in the world" he says and Trammy laughs "that might not have been the pregnancy" he says quietly and I laugh "so boy or girl" Eve asks and in sigh "we don't know" I say and they all look at me wide eyes Trammy choking on his drink "what? Why?" Kilorn asks "Mare and I have a bet" I say and Eve looks at me "nice, a bet on your unborn child, guys I think we just found our parents of the year" she says and I roll my eyes "it's a harmless bet" I say "oh ya so what is it" Trammy asks "well she thinks it's a girl, I think it's a boy. So we said whoever's right gets to name the baby." I say and they all nod "so, what's your idea for a boys name?" Kilorn asks "oh wait let me guess, Tiberias VIII" Eve says "you better fucking not" Trammy says "no no no I'm letting that tradition die with me" I say and they all laugh "no I was thinking Shade" I say and they all go silent, I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing "she'll like that" Trammy says "yes she will" Kilorn confirms. We eat and talk about Eve's wedding that's in a few months. We finish and I head back home. When I get there there's and ambulance outside our house, my mind immediately goes to Mare. I run into the house and the paramedics are leaving, I see Gisa walking them to the door and I pull her aside "what happened is Mare ok?" I say "ya she's fine now, she's in your room if..." she says and i run upstairs not letting her finish. I get to our room and I see Mare sitting on the bed with her mom rubbing her back, she sees me and gives me a sarcastic smile. I run to her side "what happened?" I ask "I passed out" she says and my eyes go wide "are you ok? Is the baby ok?" I ask and it looks like Mare gets a contraction "she started feeling faint and then fell backwards, Gisa and I caught her before she hit the ground." Mares mother says "we called 911 because we didn't know if it was serious or not" she continued I rub Mares back and she leans onto me her mother smiles "I'm going to go home unless there's anything else you'd like?" She asks and Mare turns her head to her mother "no but thank you for taking care of me" Mare says "yes thank you" I say and she smiles "it's nothing really, I'll see you two later" she says and leaves. I put my arm around her and use my other hand to touch the baby "they told me not to stand in one place for too long or it might happen again" she says and I laughs "I'm surprised with all that energy you have you can stand still" I say and she laughs.

Mare POV (24 weeks pregnant)

"No not like that!" I yell getting angry with my soldiers, it's getting harder and harder to train them while also keeping my breath. My feet hurt all the time and my back hurts as well, I have to ask Eve to train them sometimes when it gets bad and Cal isn't there to replace me. I feel bad when I have to ask them to replace me, but the baby is so big now that my lungs can't take in a lot of air. I show them how to do the movement properly and finish the session, when I'm done I see Gisa talking to one of my soldiers, Ryan I think his name is so I walk over to them "oh hey Mare ready to go?" Gisa says and my soldier straightened up "relax Ryan, go where?" I ask and she looks at me confused "to Elanes wedding dress fitting" she says and I completely forgot "shit that's right, do we have time to stop off at my place?" I ask and she nods "well I should go I'll see you tonight?" Ryan says and Gisa blushes "ya tonight" she reply's,  he salutes me and leaves "tonight what's tonight?" I ask and she bushes even more "he's taking me out" she says quietly "what happened to the girl at the shop downtown?" I ask and she smiles "she's not into me that way so we're just friends" she reply's. We head back to my place so that I can change, it takes me a while to find something that's nice for a wedding dress shop especially Gisa's dress shop. She opened one up a few months ago and it's gotten crazy busy. Once I'm done changing we head over we get there early so that Gisa can get the dresses ready. After about 20 minutes Farley shows up, then the Carmadon, and finally Elane. Her parents aren't coming because they don't approve of her marrying Eve, Gisa takes us to a private viewing room and takes Elane to the changing room. It gives me some time to talk about how Emily is doing "do hows em?" I ask and he laughs "she's great but keeping us up all night, Dane is having the worst time but he has a lot of fun with her." He says and it just makes me think of when we have our baby how much sleep we'll get. "And how are you?" He asks and I laugh "there are good days and bad days unfortunately this is one of the bad ones" I say and Farley smiles "don't worry, it's worth it" she says and the Elane comes out to show us the first dress.

It's been 3 hours and we still have found a dress that she likes. We decide to spread out and try and find one that she would like, I find this beautiful dress that has lace and comes off the shoulder. When I come back we each have one dress, Gisa grabs them and she goes and gives them to Elane to try on, when she comes out she wearing my dress and we're all so speechless. When she looks at herself she starts to tear up "what do you think?" Gisa asks and she nods excitedly "this is it, this is the dress" she says and that makes me smile ear to ear "you look stunning" Carmadon says "I second that" Farley says. I walk and get a vail and bring it over to her, I give it to Gisa and she puts it on her "I'm not much a fashion person, but I know that this is something amazing." I say and she hugs me "you picked it out didn't you?" She asks "I did" I say back. When Gisa finished doing some adjustments we leave her shop and head to dinner but on our way there I see a Lakrlander jet fly above us and almost crash at the airport. Farley sees it too and starts driving full speed towards it when we get there, other soldiers are on their way to the plane Farley starts running and the soldiers let her through the door get pushed open and a man falls out "Holy shit, get a medic!" Farley yells and I start to make my way to see who it is.
