Accidents make perfection

Chapter 33

*attention* I know that this may not be exactly how labor goes, and I apologize. I did some research, watching YouTube videos and movies so there might be some things missing. I try to keep it as accurate as possible though I know that this chapter will not be. Anyways I hope you guys like it, it's a long one.

Mare POV

"Ok" Cal says and gets out of bed and changes his clothes. I get up and put on a sweater and sweatpants "grab the hospital bag" I say and he grabs it. We make our way to the car and get in "we have everything right?" I ask "yes the hospital bag, the birth plan, and the speaker." He lists everything off "ok let's go have a baby" I say and the shock finally hits me. Cal sees me and puts his hand on my thigh "you're gonna do great" he says and I take a deep breath and nod. On our way I get another contraction "ow" I say say and Cal glances at me "you ok?" He asks "no I'm not I'm having a contraction Cal" I say and he puts out his hand for me to grab, I take it immediately "why is this one hurting so much" I say under gritted teeth "well your water broke so I'm guessing they're going to get more intense" he says "are you fucking kidding me" i say and it ends. We get to the hospital in about 30 minutes, we called Holly and my parents and friends. When we get there we go into the elevator and go to the floor for baby delivery. When we get there we go up to the receptionist "hi it's Cal Calore I called earlier about my girlfriend Mare Barrow" I say and she smiles "yes of course we have the private room ready for you" she says and guides us to the room "ah Cal?" Mare says having another contraction as we're walking and I hold out my hand for her to squeeze. She takes it and we go into a room. "Before doctor Holly gets here I need to some tests to see if you're actually in labor" The women guiding us says she tells Mare to lie down on the bed and lift up her sweater, then she puts this monitor on her and starts to, i think measure the contractions. "Have you had any leaking" she asks and Mare nods "ok then we'll have to do a swab so I need you to take off your pants ok?" She says and Mare sits up I go to her side and help her take them off "ok now put your feet here" she says and Mare does as she asks she then does something and goes and checks on something? I honestly have no idea what's going on. When she comes back she smiling "well looks like you guys are getting admitted. Which means you're in labor, now you'll have to put your clothes back on and follow me to your room" she says I help Mare put her clothes back on and we follow her to the room. When we get there, there's a long bench next to the window and i set our stuff on there and Mare starts to put on the hospital gown "how do I look?" Mare says and poses ,I turn and laugh "sexy" i say and she laughs "ugh" Mare says and I go and she grabs my hands "breath remember" I say and she nods. It lasts for about a minutes and then ends I guide her to the bed and she gets in. A different nurse comes in smiling "hello Mare Cal my name is Erine, I'll be your nurse for the birth." She says "hello" Mare says "hi it's nice to meet you" I say shaking her hand "alright well I'm going to check to see how much you're dilated ok? So if you could put your feet on here." She says and Mare follows. Then she puts on gloves and 'feels around' "well looks like your 3 cm dilated, that's a good start" she says and I smile. "Now I saw in your birth plan that you wanted to avoid medication so now that you've experienced these contraction do you want to have an epidural?" She asks and I look at Mare "no I can manage" she says, the nurse smiles "alright, your OB should be here in the next few hours, I'll leave you two to get comfortable" she says and leaves.

Mare POV

"So how's it going" cal asks "I feel like the baby is stretching and clawing at my uterus" I say and it's kinda true, I can't really describe it. Then I get another contraction "ahh my god" I say and Cal puts his hand out I grab it, but this time it hurts more then the last "ow ow ow" i say and Cal looks terrified "it's ok squeeze my hand" he says "but I don't want to hurt you" I say with gritted teeth "it's fine, it'll be nothing compared to what you're going through" he says and I squeeze a bit tighter and he doesn't flinch. It stops and I let go, I lean my head back "I don't know if I can do this if only one hour in it hurts like that" I say with deep breaths "if you need you can get an epidural" he says and I shake my head "we made a plan let's stick to it" i say back.
