Chapter 26

Cal POV

The house is amazing, it's nothing like what I would live in, it's cozy, very homey. It has blue grey walls on the outside with white trimming and details. It's a home for a family for sure. I must show an amazed look on my face because Mare laughs "amazing right? and it's not that expensive either." She says. A car pulls into the driveway next to ours and a woman jumps out. She's got blond hair glasses and a suit on and she runs to Mare and they hug "hey" Mare says "hey to you too, how are you feeling? How's the baby? Are you getting the house this time?" She asks and Mare laughs "I'm fine, the baby's fine and it all depends on him." She says and gestures to me I wave and she has a full smile on her face "this is Cal" she says "hello it's nice to meet you" I say and hold out my hand to shake hers "your the father right?" She says taking my hand "yes I am" I say and it makes me a little happy to say that "well it's a pleasure to finally meet you,Mare talks endlessly about you." She says and I see Mare blush behind her and I laugh "good things I hope?" I say and the woman laughs "yes, by the way my name is pepper I'm a friend of Mares, and also a realtor" she says "well now that he have the greetings out of the way how about we show you the house" she says and makes her way to the door Mare looks at me and holds out her hand and I take it. We follow her into the house, the inside is as amazing as the outside. There's tons of room, a kitchen that connects to the living room, and then a huge dinning room that could seat 10 or more. There's another separate room that makes you feel like you're outdoors because of all the windows. She shows us around and tells me all the great things you can do with the rooms , but all I can think of is us with children playing. When we go upstairs there's another room that separates all the bedrooms. We look at the five other bedrooms they each have individual bathrooms except for two that have a jack and Jill style bathroom. The master is breathtaking, it's huge there's a walk in closet and a balcony that looks over the backyard and into the forest. Once the tour is done we head back down to the kitchen to talk about the details a bit more "so Cal, how did you like the house?" Pepper asks me "it's amazing, it's big which I like." I say and Mare laughs "well you're used to it." She says and I laugh although I don't think it's that funny. "Well it gives you guys a lot of room for when the little one comes along in October." She says and then it hits me "wait, you never told me when the baby was due?" I say and Mare laughs "well I know you'll already like the day." She says "what do you mean?" I ask "October 31st" She says and my eyes widen "you're joking" I say and pepper looks confused "on my birthday." I say and Mare nods I lean in to kiss her "well that's gonna be the best present I'll ever get" I say and we kiss, pepper just sits there uncomfortable with the affection we're giving each other, i separated the kiss first "sorry" I say "no problem, it's nice to know things worked out with you guys." Pepper says and we both smile "so you like the house, it's big enough for the baby, the last question I have for you is are you buying it?" She asks and Mare looks at me I nod to her and she turns immediately "yes we will" she says and I take her hand. We talk about the contracts and payments and all the boring grownup stuff that I absolutely hate.

(Yes I know this is not how buying a house actually works but I don't want this to be boring. So this is the way I'm going to do it so deal with it.)

Mare POV

Once we get all the paper work done we say goodbye to pepper and stay in the house to let it sink in, I walk out into the middle of the room and spread my arms "I can't believe we bought a house, I feel so grown up." I say and cal walks towards me "ya, buying a house having a baby, we are officially.." he says and puts his hands on my waist pulling my towards him "grownups" he finishes and kisses me, the kiss is delicate and sweet. He pulls away "I almost forgot to tell you, until the baby gets here I'm going to be going back and forth every two weeks from here to Norta." He says and that makes me sad "I forgot you weren't staying" I say and look down at my baby bump "life sucks when you're gone" I say and put a hand on our baby. Cal's eyes furrow, he looks guilty, he takes me over to the couch and he lies down with his back propped up on the arm and he motions for me to lay on top of him like we did at home. I lie down and Cal wraps both his hands around me and sets his hands on our baby, I put my hand on top of his "I wish I could stay, I really do. I don't want to miss anything with the baby, or leave you alone to deal with pregnancy. It makes me feel like a dick when I do, but it would also make me feel like a dick if I didn't help Norta become a war free country." He says and I sigh "why do we have to be the ones that have to save them I thought we were done?" I say "me too." He says back we sit there for a while in silence "I have a doctors appointment in a few days, I want you to come." I say and he smiles "I wouldn't miss it for the world." He says.

After an hour of talking about what to do with the bedrooms that weren't furnished, and when we'll start moving in. Which we decided would be before my doctors appointment next week, we head to Farley's to babysit Clara. When we get there and Farley opens the door she looks pissed at Cal "what the hell have you done." She says and Cal start to panic "what do you mean?" He asks nervous "Clara has been non stop talking about how she wants to be a princess and how much she loves monarchies. I spent my whole life trying to end monarchies and now my daughter wants to be a part of one and she won't believe me when I tell her why they're bad." She says "woah slow down Farley, Cal can just tell her why they're bad" I say "I hope your right" she says. She let's us in and goes and gets Clara she comes running out yelling "uncle Cal!" And runs into his arms "hey, how's my favorite niece" he says and she giggles "look at my dress, do I look like a princess?" She says and Cal sets her down on the couch "ok we need to talk about that, I don't think I explained what being royalty really is yesterday" he starts "what do you mean" Clara asks "well sometimes kings would do bad things that would hurt people," he says "like what?" She asks "well like making people who don't have money pay to have lights on." He says "but that's not fair" she says "no it's not, but that's why you mother made it so that it wouldn't happen anymore. By getting rid of the kingdom and make it a Democracy, which means you can choose who you want to rule over you." He says "but you where a prince, did you do bad things?" She asks "yes I did and I regret them very much. And I don't want you doing what I did." He says and she nods "ok, but what if I'm a nice princess that helps people." She says and he laughs "well that would make you better then I could ever be." He says and she blushes. Farley thanks Cal and leave for her meeting, we babysit Clara for the rest of the night, and I'm wiped when it's over.

-Jump to the doctors appointment-

We finally finished unpacking all of our stuff into the house, Cal had most of his stuff shipped here yesterday the rest he kept there so he didn't have to travel with much, he leaves in 2 days and I hate the fact that he'll be leaving, I'm going to be all alone in a huge house for two weeks. The thought makes me sad but I shake it off because I'm now almost 12 weeks pregnant and it's so noticeable. All my soldiers know now because I decided to tell them when I heard them whispering about it. I've gained another pound and I hate it Cal keeps trying to reassure me that it's good, and I know it is but my body is changing so fast it's freaking me out. Cal is going to see the baby for the first time and he's so excited, he wanted to get to the doctors as early as possible so he woke me up at 7am on a Friday, which is supposed to be one of my two break days during the week. I was pissed when he woke me up, but my hormones have stoped making me over react to everything so that anger was purely me. After about 20 minutes we finally get to the doctors office, I asked her to schedule it earlier so that cal could see the baby before he leaves. She wanted to have it at 14 weeks but Cal would be gone then. We walk in and just like when Farley brought me there was no one there. I walk up to the receptionist "ah miss barrow it's lovely to see you again." She says with a bright smile "you too, I hope we're not too early." I say and she laughs "no she just came in, why don't you follow me into the room and I'll do your physical before Holly comes and sees you." She says and we walk towards the room. She does the standard things like weigh me and measure me "well you certainly have a big baby" she says and that makes me blush, she see and smiles "it's not a bad thing dear, the baby is growing at a steady pace" she says and that makes me feel a little better. Cal sits in a chair next to the table I have to sit on. When the nurse leaves I sit on the table and Cal puts his hand on my leg, I put my hand on it "you're lucky you don't get to see her put a dildo inside me to see the baby this time." I say and his eyes go wide "what?" He says, and as soon as he does Holly walks in "hello Mare how are we doing?" She asks "alright" I says "how has your morning sickness been?" She asks "it was really bad until this week, I still get it but it's not as frequent" I say "good, now I see you've gain about 5lbs since we last saw you." She says and I sigh "yes" I say and she can see that I'm self conscious about that "it's totally normal, you're a small person by nature so you where bound to gain more weight to compensate." She says and it's true, I've always been small not only by height but with my weight as well, because growing up with no food does that to a person. "So I take this is the father, Cal" she says and sticks out her hand for Cal to shake. " yes I am" he says and she stares at him a bit longer then usual "do I know you from somewhere?" She asks "no I don't believe so?" He says and then it hits her "you're the 'traitor prince' from Norta aren't you." She says and Cal blushes "yes I am" he says quietly she laughs "anyways let's get started shall we.
