When someone goes through a whole lot of shitty stuff
They emerge a seemingly different person
This is because things can't heal perfectly
I've heard the comparison between broken glass and a hurt person
You can glue it back together but there will always be cracks
Today I realized that a better comparison is with your own body
When you get cut the wound heals but the scar tissue that stays is different than the rest
When the heart is hurt it heals different than it was before
It's the way your body works
Yet people still act surprised when the people they hurt are different afterwards
