I am Gregory and you can call me Greg. I’m a typical teenager who spend a lot of time using the internet, mostly social media and online games, and my favorite time of the year is guess what? Of course, vacation. I lived in a cycle of eat-sleep-internet. It was Friday afternoon of summer way back 2016, a random person call on our phone. I answered the phone but the line was too fuzzy and then a voice came up and said “ Hello, can I talk to Philip? Tell him this is Anna.”
I confusingly told her “Who’s Philip?, This is Gregory by the way.”,“Oh Hi! Gregory, can I talk to Philip? Philip Johnson.” Her sweet voice said.
“I don’t know any Philip Johnson here, maybe you call the wrong number?” I replied.
“Oh! My bad, Im sorry, Maybe you’re right” she replied.
But I was so hooked by her sweet beautiful voice that I don’t want to end the conversation yet so I ask her “ Who’s Philip? Is he your boyfriend?”
“No, He’s my father’s friend. He forgot his suitcase here so I call to his house to inform him but unfortunately I called the wrong number.” She replied.
“Okay, I thought he is. Anyway, How old are you?” I asked.
“I’m seventeen, turning eighteen on 11th of the upcoming month. How ‘bout you mister?”“I’m turned nineteen last February, So where do you live?” I asked her.
“I live in the south of the capital, near the church, and you?”
“Me? Somewhere down the east coast.”“Oh! That’s way too far, it’ll take hours for my horse to run that haha!”
“Seriously? You can ride a horse?”
“Of course not, I am riding a calash haha!” she replied.
“Don’t tell me you cannot ride a horse?” she added.
To impress her I answered, “Of course I can” (but deep inside my mind I’m saying “Who the hell would ride a horse today duuuh!”)Two hours pass by but we are still talking stuffs on phone like books she like to read and then she’ll tell me what the book was all about. She talked way too old but she’s so nice. She told me she’s part of a choir and she even sung on the phone. I was so entertained by her beautiful voice after she sung an old song that I didn’t thought my mom was behind me.
*then my mom yelled “ Greg!, can you please send those photos in my phone to your aunt Susie’s facebook?”*
She heard it and curiously asked me “Who was that lady yelling? Is she your mom? And photographs on her phone? Your auntie’s face on a book? What’s that mean?”
“What do you mean what’s that mean?” I asked her.
“I mean what’s that? A telephone of your mom that has
photograph in it and you will send it to your auntie’s book? I’m so confused.“Seriously? You don’t know what’s facebook is? Or a phone capable of photography? Hello! this is 2016. Are you living in the ice age ? haha!” I replied.
But still confused, she strangely asked me “ What 2016? It’s 1992 Greg, are you kidding?”
“Is that a prank?, I am not kidding haha! . I’ll call you back later, my mom is in hurry. Bye! for now Anna it’s so nice to talk with you”
Then I hung the phone and do what I have to do. After I finished it, I called her. But the phone keep telling me that I am calling a wrong number and it doesn’t exist, and it creeps me out and thought it was just a dream but it’s not. Is she from the past or from another universe? There is still goosebumps in mine while typing this. I still remember her beautiful loving voice. Until today I’m still waiting for her call.
