Maxine Valdez

It's been almost two months mula nung naging 'tour guide' ako ni Nathaniel.

I am seated on the second row, siya naman ay sa fourth row. Pero thankful din kasi hindi niya ako kinukulit. Kahit sulyapan ako, hindi niya ginagawa. Buti na lang talaga. I'm just not comfortable with new people.

"Class, we're going to have a throwback lesson." Sabi ng teacher namin.

Itinaas ko agad ang kamay ko.

"Maxine?"

"Ma'am, for what?"

"I'll explain." Umupo na ako. She smiled and continued. "Magpapa-exam ako, your lessons nung elementary and freshmen pa kayo. I'll just test you brains."

Tumawa kaming lahat and I felt na kinakabahan na ang fellow classmates ko.

"Oh, let's start! Sa una, I'll call the person who raises his hand. And after sometime, I'll be the one who'll choose. Clear?"

I smirked kasi I'm so excited! Game on!

"Among the scientists, who invented the Laws of Motion?"

I raised my hand. "Yes, Mr. Salazar?"

What the hell? Tumingin ako sa likod. Oo nga, nakataas din ang kamay niya. I should be the one answering.

"Isaac Newton did."

"Very good." And she even clapped her hands! "In what level of illness prevention is rehabilitation included?"

Tumaas ulit ako ng kamay. "Ms. Valdez?"

"Tertiary."

"Great. In which part of the French Revolution was Napoleon involved?"

As usual, I did my ritual, to raise my hand. Tiningnan ko si Nathaniel, and he is too! Kakalabanin ba talaga ako nito?

"Silang dalawa lang ba ang estudyante ko? Other people!"

Tumaas ng kamay si Raikko, iyong SEB Governor namin. He's smart, I can really say. We're friends from the very start and he was the one who taught me how to have daily readings, reviews, and stuff connected with studying. Mahilig naman ako sa mga libro ever since, just not academics. But with his help, I managed to love every kind of book.

"The fourth part of it."
